South Carolina ETV (SCETV) is the state's public educational broadcasting network. SCETV amplifies South Carolina voices, provides educational experiences, and strengthens communities while working to create a stronger, more connected, and informed South Carolina. SCETV provides national and local content to classrooms via internet services Knowitall.org and PBS Learning Media. SCETV also offers teacher training and re-certification in both face-to-face and online settings.
Job Purpose:This position manages the online presence for South Carolina Public Radio, focusing primarily on news stories. The role involves prioritizing, building, and serving digital audiences related to news. It functions as a digital reporter, creating, editing, and distributing news content across the agency's website, social media, and other digital platforms.Job Duties:Develop news story ideas, research topics, conduct interviews, and produce engaging digital-first content for South Carolina Public Radio’s website and platforms. Review, edit, and troubleshoot digital content created by the News team, collaborating closely with reporters and producers to adapt broadcast stories into web stories and develop digital reporting strategies. Maintain the website, manage promotional content, oversee podcast scheduling, and create subpages for various content types. Coordinate with different teams for content relevance, maintain streaming and smart speaker services, and stay updated on digital trends.Lead social media efforts to share, repurpose, and generate content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms. Develop social media strategies for local news and programs. Engage with audiences through comments and interactions.Analyze website analytics, podcast downloads, and other metrics to understand audience engagement. Collaborate with team members to utilize data in content creation.Perform other duties as assigned, including serving as on-air talent during pledge drives and representing South Carolina Public Radio at events.Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a relevant field.
- At least three years of experience as a journalist or digital producer preferred.
- Knowledge of South Carolina Public Radio’s content and mission is desirable.
- Experience with news content management systems is preferred.
