Opportunity
The Gas Plant and Tool Pool Manager manages various production activities including: Planning, directing, and controlling pro-duction to meet established specifications, schedules, volume/cost/wastage targets, and quality standards. Liaising with Engineering, Supply & Logistics, Project managers, etc. as input to developing production schedules and allocating labor/capital re-sources. Planning, prioritizing, and managing production line maintenance/downtime to minimize disruptions.
The Production Manager supervises team leaders and professional level employees. Ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.
Reporting to the Operating Unit Manager
Main Responsibilities
· Oversees the planning, execution and testing of all Gas Plant & Tool Pool activities, including the receiving, inspection, maintenance, calibration, storage, gas processing, testing, loading and shipping.
· Organizes and allocates resources to effectively and efficiently meet production targets
· Leads capacity planning and resource optimization for the assigned area of responsibility, ensuring that the areas of responsibility are properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed.
· Ensures that gas plant production plan meets the volume requirements agreed in the demand plan and the defined inventory level.
· Ensures that field service demands are fulfilled with proper test equipment & tools, shipped against service orders and per service managers or field engineers request.
· Manages incoming inspections, Maintenance and Calibration program of the assets of the areas of responsibility
· Ensures that job costing is set and working as expected in SAP, including employee time entries, work centers set-up, production routings and inventory control.
· Manages inbound and outbound of test equipment and gas cylinders supporting service execution with respect to the agreed terms of schedule, quality, cost, margin, and customer satisfaction.
· Responsible for gas cylinder inventory and logistics associated with returning assets to inventory.
· Implement shop floor company programs, such as 5S, daily management and visual management
· Measures Key performance Indicators relevant to reach safety, quality, delivery and profitability objectives.
· Reviews and analyzes performance against standards and prepares Root Cause Counter measures and Improvement plans.
· Drives continuous improvement activities in collaboration with Operations Management and Operational Excellence teams. Utilizes efficient IT tools (e.g. SAP, SBN, etc) to streamline processes.
· Manages Capital Expenditures required for efficient operation, identifying and recommending technical equipment, soft-ware applications and facility improvements as necessary.
· As a process owner, ensures that the process is properly documented with SOPs and Work Instructions.
· Reviews skills and competence levels to ensure each team member is appropriately qualified to handle tasks and responsibilities assigned to them.
· Act as representative of the Service business to train and promote Hitachi Energy gas management solutions.
· Assesses risks and safety hazards and implements actions to ensure people and equipment safety.
· Ensures compliance with Group health, safety and environmental directives as well as local regulations.

Knowledge, skills, experience
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical or industrial engineering.
· 10+ years' experience in operations
· 3+ years experience with industrial maintenance or field service
· 3+ years experience with gas handling of SF6 or with gas processing plants and related equipment
· Minimum 5 years of people management experience
· Proven experience with Continuous Improvement.
· A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach, and strong communication skills.
· Advanced computer skills, previously worked with MS Office365, SharePoint, and SAP.
· Fluent in English
· Good written skills.
· Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
