Opportunity
The Gas Plant and Tool Pool Manager oversees various production activities, including planning, directing, and controlling production to meet specifications, schedules, volume, cost, wastage targets, and quality standards. The role involves liaising with Engineering, Supply & Logistics, Project managers, and others to develop production schedules and allocate resources. The manager also plans, prioritizes, and manages maintenance and downtime to minimize disruptions.
The Production Manager supervises team leaders and professional employees, ensuring policies, practices, and procedures are understood and followed by all stakeholders.
Reporting to the Operating Unit Manager.
Main Responsibilities
- Oversees planning, execution, and testing of Gas Plant & Tool Pool activities, including receiving, inspection, maintenance, calibration, storage, gas processing, testing, loading, and shipping.
- Organizes and allocates resources to meet production targets effectively and efficiently.
- Leads capacity planning and resource optimization, ensuring proper organization, staffing, skills, and direction.
- Ensures gas plant production plans meet volume requirements and inventory levels.
- Fulfills field service demands with proper test equipment and tools, shipped as per service orders and requests.
- Manages inspections, maintenance, and calibration of assets within responsibility areas.
- Ensures job costing in SAP is accurate, including employee time, work centers, routings, and inventory.
- Manages inbound and outbound logistics of test equipment and gas cylinders, supporting service execution.
- Responsible for gas cylinder inventory and logistics related to asset returns.
- Implements shop floor programs like 5S, daily management, and visual management.
- Measures KPIs related to safety, quality, delivery, and profitability.
- Analyzes performance, identifies root causes, and develops improvement plans.
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives with Operations and Operational Excellence teams, utilizing IT tools like SAP and SBN.
- Manages capital expenditures for operational efficiency, recommending equipment and facility improvements.
- Ensures processes are documented with SOPs and Work Instructions.
- Reviews skills and competencies, ensuring team members are qualified for their tasks.
- Acts as a representative for the Service business, promoting Hitachi Energy gas management solutions.
- Assesses risks and safety hazards, implementing safety measures.
- Ensures compliance with health, safety, environmental directives, and local regulations.
- Upholds Hitachi Energy’s core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility and caring for colleagues and the business.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical, or industrial engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in operations.
- 3+ years in industrial maintenance or field service.
- 3+ years in gas handling of SF6 or gas processing plants.
- Minimum 5 years of people management experience.
- Proven experience with Continuous Improvement.
- Collaborative, solutions-oriented approach with strong communication skills.
- Advanced computer skills, including MS Office365, SharePoint, and SAP.
- Fluent in English, with good written skills.
- Must have work authorization to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
