Job summary

OC Sports & Entertainment, LLC is seeking a Production Manager for our concert hall in California. The role oversees technical production, coordinates touring acts, and leads stage crews to ensure high-quality performances.

The candidate will manage audio, lighting, video, and rigging systems, uphold safety standards, and collaborate across departments to deliver exceptional events. On-site work with flexible hours is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Theater or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
  • 5+ years in production management within performing arts centers, concert halls, or live venues.
  • Experience managing both union and non-union crews with labor contracts knowledge.
  • Proven track record coordinating complex productions with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of pro audio, video, lighting and rigging systems.
  • Familiarity with safety standards including OSHA and fire codes.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities under pressure.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CAD/Vectorworks is a plus.
  • Budget tracking and cost estimation for production elements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all technical production aspects of events including sound, lighting, video, rigging, and stage management.
  • Serve as primary contact for touring productions, artists' tech staff, and rental clients.
  • Coordinate and supervise stagehands and crews during load-in, setup, rehearsals, and performances.
  • Review riders and production advances to assess feasibility and resources.
  • Manage and maintain AV and stage equipment; coordinate rentals as needed.
  • Ensure safety protocols and venue policies are followed.
  • Create detailed production schedules and ensure labor and technical needs are met.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Facilities, Programming for seamless events.
  • Identify and resolve production challenges efficiently and professionally.
  • Track budgets, labor costs, and equipment maintenance expenses.
  • Provide on-site supervision during events and troubleshoot in real-time.

Pay Details

The annual base salary range for this position in California is $90,000 to $115,000 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee all technical production aspects of events, including sound, lighting, video, rigging, and stage management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for touring productions, artists' technical staff, and rental clients regarding production needs and capabilities
  • Coordinate and supervise stagehands and union or freelance crews during load-in, setup, rehearsals, performances, and load-out
  • Review technical riders and production advances to assess feasibility and resource needs
  • Manage and maintain audio, video, lighting, and rigging equipment; coordinate rentals as needed
  • Ensure safe use of all equipment and adherence to safety protocols and venue policies
  • Create detailed production schedules and ensure all technical and labor requirements are fulfilled
  • Collaborate with internal departments (Operations, Facilities, Programming, etc.) to support seamless event execution
  • Identify and resolve technical and logistical challenges efficiently and professionally
  • Track production budgets, labor costs, and equipment maintenance expenses
  • Provide on-site production supervision during events and troubleshoot in real-time
Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Theater, Production Management, or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience accepted
  • 5+ years of experience in production management within a performing arts center, concert hall, live music venue, or equivalent setting
  • Experience managing union and non-union crews, including knowledge of labor contracts and call times
  • Proven experience coordinating complex technical productions with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of professional-grade audio, video, lighting, and rigging systems
  • Understanding of stagecraft, power distribution, and backstage operations
  • Familiarity with safety standards and compliance, including OSHA and fire codes
  • Knowledge of concert and performing arts production workflows and artist expectations
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; able to manage teams under pressure
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CAD, Vectorworks, or other drafting software is a plus
  • Skilled at budget tracking and cost estimation for production elements
  • Able to manage multiple events and production timelines simultaneously
  • Able to lead and motivate crews in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Able to assess and solve complex technical challenges efficiently
  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Able to lift and carry heavy equipment (within safety guidelines) and work at heights as required
  • Able to maintain composure and professionalism in high-pressure or last-minute situations
