Job summary

• Ability to work 2nd Shift (2:00PM-10:00PM, Monday-Friday) with weekend overtime as needed to support production.

Responsibilities

• Direct production supervisors in the plant and coordinate production work through familiarity with all manufacturing processes.
• Maintain safety, quality, efficiency, scrap and production schedules.
• Motivate and direct training of production supervisors; train and develop individuals and evaluate progress.
• Analyze staffing requirements and study daily operating results; consult with supervisors on solutions to production problems.
• Ensure safe work practices; maintain OSHA compliance and provide ongoing safety training.
• Coordinate staffing and temporary staff requirements; distribute staff accordingly.
• Lead Lean initiatives and drive the Johnson Controls Manufacturing System (JCMS).
• Drive continuous improvement, 5S activities, and Kaizen events across the area.

What you will do

The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring that the assigned production area is operated in the most profitable and efficient basis and with the correct level of quality. Responsible for maintaining the safety of the area, scheduling assignments, line balancing, evaluation and control of build, monitoring of fulfillment of customer production and quality requirements, control of scrap and rework, efficiency, application of overtime, and documentation of these activities. Acts as primary contact for in-house departments for production related issues in assigned area. Directly supervises the production supervisors.

How you will do it

• processes. Maintain a continual awareness of safety, quality, efficiency, scrap and production schedules.
• Motivate and direct the training of production supervisors. Train and develop individuals, instill in them a sense of
• responsibility, and evaluate them on their progress.
• Analyze and determine staffing requirements. Study daily operating results, meet daily with subordinates, and consult with supervisors on solutions to production problems. Ensure that problems have been corrected. Maintain cooperation between departments.
• Ensure safe work practices are followed by all manufacturing personnel. Inform the employees of deficiencies and
• violations and take corrective action, if necessary, to ensure that procedures and practices are being followed. Assist in maintaining OSHA compliance on the plant floor. Provide Safety training in a continuous basis.
• Ensure correct distribution of staff and assist with training for all new or transferred employees. Coordinate temporary staff requirements.
• Works with leadership and CI/Mfg. Engineering to develop a roadmap for Continuous Improvement in the assigned area for processes and productivity.
• Drives the JCMS - Johnson Controls Manufacturing System - throughout the plant, implements and sustains this culture with continuous training and development of hourly production personnel in the manufacturing principles and governing behaviors.
• Supports and leads 5S activities throughout the manufacturing facility to continuously improve the 5S Score.
• Leads Kaizen Events and performs lean training for the production personnel in the assigned area.
• Drives formal problem-solving methods in the production floor with production personnel to drive a culture of
• continuous improvement and quality, and controls scrap and rework, and provides quality product to the customer.
• Understands financial reporting and drives improvements based on KPI goals.
• Authorize and evaluate the overtime requirement for Production employees.
• Assist in mediation of personnel problems and conduct disciplinary action when required.
• Monitor customer production requirements and coordinate schedule adjustments when required.
• Monitor and ensure documentation of employee attendance records.

What we look for

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of six (6) years of experience as a Production Supervisor in manufacturing environment or Associate degree and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a Production Supervisor in a manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency using MS Office Suite.
• Ability to work 2nd Shift (2:00PM-10:00PM, Monday-Friday) as well as weekend overtime as needed to support production. NOTE: Shift could change in the future based on business need.

Preferred:

• Experience applying Lean manufacturing, 5S and Six Sigma.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $89,000 - $134,000(Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, andabilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
