Job summary

Celanese Washington Works in the United States seeks a Production Manager to lead a 24/7 CORE Team and implement daily work processes aligned with SQRE goals (Stewardship, Quality, Reliability, Engagement). You will translate unit strategy into an actionable plan and manage resources, material availability, and cost per unit while driving continuous improvement.

The role requires manufacturing leadership experience, strong communication, and the ability to develop team members.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Experience motivating, leading and developing teams to achieve core principles.
  • Drives engagement and possesses effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Knowledge of computer use such as Microsoft Office and other programs as needed.
  • Capacity to solve problems to ensure business needs are met.
  • Critical thinking, RCA knowledge, and the capability to prioritize and be decisive.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and act as role model for the respective team based on MttC principles.
  • Provide strategic guidance and daily directions to the CORE Team regarding SQRE and unit objectives.
  • Ensure resources required by the CORE Team are available to achieve daily execution.
  • Ensure resources, raw materials and supplies are available for unit operations.
  • Translate unit strategy into operating plan, including achieving cost per unit objective.
  • Drive engagement and communication across 24/7 & CORE Team members through SQRE Meetings for clarity and prioritization of actions.
  • Create and lead employee development plans for all PEs & MMs in respective teams.
  • Oversee daily operational performance (KPIs, Standard Work, OpEx Initiatives, Operational Learning Events) and collaborate to maximize efficiencies.
  • Communicate maintenance/reliability issues with ME and Maintenance Team Captain for resolution and with supply chain.
  • Ensure proactive PE escalations to drive continuous improvement in personnel and production processes.
  • Provide timely responses to escalations and escalate as appropriate.

Job description

Overview:

The Washington Works site currently has an opportunity available for a Production Manager. This member of the production leadership team will implement the operational strategy developed by the unit leader through the development and implementation of daily work processes that allow the team to achieve flawless day performance related to SQRE objectives (Stewardship, Quality, Reliability, and Engagement).

Responsibilities:
  • Leading and acting as the role model for the respective team based on MttC principles.
  • Provides strategic guidance and daily directions to the CORE Team regarding SQRE and unit objectives.
  • Ensures that all support and/or resources (including trained staff) required by the CORE Team are made available to achieve daily execution.
  • Ensure resources, raw materials and supplies are available for unit operations.
  • Translates unit strategy into operating plan, including achieving cost per unit objective.
  • Drives engagement and communication across 24/7 & CORE Team members through SQRE Meeting structure to ensure clarity & appropriate prioritization on open action items and PPR assignments.
  • Create and lead employee development plans for all PEs & MMs in respective teams.
  • Oversee daily operational performance (KPIs, Standard Work, OpEx Initiatives, Operational Learning Events) and collaborate with technical/functional team members to maximize efficiencies.
  • Communicates any maintenance or reliability issues with the Manufacturing Expert (ME) and Maintenance Team Captain for appropriate resolution, and to the Asset Optimizer for schedule adherence and correspondence with supply chain.
  • Ensure effective communications (proactive PE escalations) to drive continuous improvement performance related to personnel and production processes.
  • Provides timely and thoughtful response to escalation issues that arise from CORE Team and escalates up to Unit Leader / Site Services as appropriate.
Measurable Success (KPIs)
  • Stewardship Performance (Leading 24/7 SQRE KPIs & Lagging Site KPIs).
  • Product Quality – Ensure Customer Satisfaction (Annual QNs Actual vs. Goal).
  • Financial – Monthly & Annual Budget Performance (Actual vs. AOP).
  • Controllable Cost Per Unit ($/Kg.).
  • OEE% vs. Goal.
  • Production Schedule Execution (Actual vs. Plan).
  • Product Yield (FPFQ Production).
  • Achieve Annual Operational Excellence Objectives (Continuous Improvement).
Qualifications:

Required:

Preferred:

  • LEAN certification.
  • SAP experience.
  • Business acumen related to manufacturing / operations (expense management, COGS, inventory management, etc.)
  • Sample Manager (LIMS) experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
