Job summary

Darling Ingredients in Sacramento, CA is seeking a Night Production Manager to oversee the plant operation processing raw materials into high quality products, ensuring equipment and facilities are sanitary and maintained, with direct reporting to the Plant Manager. You will lead a production team, manage schedules, supervise maintenance and safety, and ensure quality control and regulatory compliance.

Must have mechanical/electrical maintenance experience and strong communication with foreman

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years prior experience in general mechanical and electrical maintenance.
  • To include experience in welding, cutting, plumbing, and electrical work.
  • Some supervisory experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the flow of all raw materials.
  • Maintain hourly production schedules from start to finish.
  • Operate plant production equipment to ensure efficient production of quality products.
  • Ensure quality control and environmental monitoring logs for submission to authorities.
  • Investigate accidents and make recommendations to Plant Safety Committee.
  • Manage recruitment, training, and supervision of production staff.

Job Summary

The Night Production Manager aids or acts in the absence of the foreman. They are responsible for overseeing the entire plant operation that processes raw materials into high quality products; ensures that equipment and buildings are sanitary and in good repair with a direct report to the Plant Manager.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
  • Maintains efficient and timely flow of all raw materials received.
  • Maintains hourly schedules beginning to end.
  • Evaluates and corrects all mechanical problems within the plant.
  • Responsible for full-cycle employment for production team, not limited to the hiring, training, disciplinary and termination processes.
  • Responsible for helping and directing subordinates as necessary.
  • Possesses the ability to operate all plant production equipment at a high standard to ensure efficient production of premium quality finished products.
  • Communicates effectively with foreman, plant manager, or maintenance manager any mechanical or technical issues with any area of the plant.
  • Ensures all processes for quality control and environmental monitors in logs are suitable for submission to governing authorities.
  • Monitors performance of individuals to ensure that procedures are being held to highest standards.
  • Responsible for the quality of all finished products and determines any reason for loss of quality.
  • Responsible for being familiar with and observing all Company safety rules and regulations, recognizes safety as top Company priority and conducts regularly scheduled safety meetings.
  • Conducts investigation of accidents that occur within jurisdiction and makes recommendations to Plant Safety Committee.
  • Must be available for nights, extended hours and call in service.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Physical Demands
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently required to stand for extended periods.
  • Occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
  • Regularly required reach with hands and arms.
Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in a rendering facility which requires tolerance for wet and/or slippery floors, and high heat and/ or cold temperatures.
