Job summary

Jobot in Palatka, FL is seeking a Production Manager to lead daily operations in our heavy steel fabrication plant. You will manage production schedules, drive safety, and push continuous improvement to meet customer deadlines.

The ideal candidate has Lean and Six Sigma experience, a relevant degree, and proven leadership to develop teams and optimize cost, quality, and throughput in a high-output environment.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field preferred.
• Strong Lean/Six Sigma background with improvement program experience.
• Experience in manufacturing environments; steel fabrication preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations within production departments to meet plans.
• Maintain 5S and housekeeping standards and support continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Production Scheduler to align resources with demand.
• Ensure processes followed; drive productivity and efficiency.
• Plan and manage labor resources for smooth workflow and on-time production.
• Execute schedules with focus on safety, quality, timeliness, and cost.
• Lead and develop area leads and team members; provide coaching.
• Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and training.
• Provide direction and feedback; address performance concerns.
• Coordinate with HR to communicate and apply policies.
• Maintain project and department documentation.
• Encourage open communication and problem solving for improvements.

Job description

We are a heavy steel and fabrication company that’s been in business for over 100 years. Our steel is used to build critical infrastructure in the US. We use high-tech CNC equipment to fabricate tons of structural steel every year.

Location: Palatka, FL plant.

Position: Production Manager.

Working hours: 5am - 5pm Mon to Thursday and 5 hours on Friday.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations within assigned production departments, ensuring work is completed efficiently and according to plan.
• Maintain high standards for organization, housekeeping, and 5S while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Partner with the Production Scheduler to review production demands, identify gaps, and adjust resources as needed.
• Ensure teams follow established fabrication processes and work to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
• Plan and manage labor resources to support smooth workflow and on time production.
• Execute production schedules with a focus on safety, quality, timeliness, and cost control.
• Lead, coach, and develop area leads and team members to drive strong performance.
• Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and training new employees within the department.
• Provide clear direction, performance feedback, and additional training when necessary; address performance concerns as needed.
• Partner with Human Resources to ensure company policies are communicated, understood, and consistently applied.
• Maintain necessary documentation for projects and departmental activities.
• Foster open communication with employees and encourage their input on problem solving and process improvements.
• Support and reinforce workplace safety initiatives by identifying risks and ensuring adherence to EHS policies.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies, with experience developing or implementing improvement programs.
• Experience in manufacturing environments required; steel fabrication experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of operational management and basic business or financial principles.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills.
• Highly organized with solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
