Job summary

West Fraser is seeking a Production Manager to lead OSB production operations, staffing, and safety. You will ensure safe equipment operation, maintain quality, meet production targets, and supervise maintenance at a high standard.

The role requires proven leadership in manufacturing, ability to collaborate across departments, and focus on process improvements, mentoring staff, and delivering value to the team. Strong communication and hands-on coaching are essential.

Qualifications

• BS or BA diploma or equivalent experience.
• Eligible to legally work in the United States.
• Experience leading a manufacturing team.
• Ability to work as part of a team and deliver value to the team.

Responsibilities

• Review production schedules and staffing to meet requirements within headcount and budget constraints.
• Direct and coordinate production and labor to improve margin.
• Develop or implement production tracking or quality control systems and analyze reports to detect problems.
• Mentor personnel and promote efficiency, building leadership and team skills.
• Direct process improvements to gain efficiency and reduce waste.
• Communicate effectively with all team members to minimize miscommunications.
• Coordinate with senior staff on personnel, safety, finance, and purchasing issues to enhance all functions.
• Lead by example and perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Job description

The Production Manager is responsible for the leadership, operation and staffing of crews for the daily production of oriented strand board (OSB). Production Manager is responsible for ensuring safe operation of equipment, quality of OSB, achieving production targets, and ensuring that operator-level maintenance is performed on all equipment at a very high standard. To that end, these responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Review processing schedules or production orders to make decisions concerning manufacturing requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering headcount and budgetary limitations and time constraints


• Direct and coordinate production and labor to gain margin improvement


• Develop or implement production tracking or quality control systems, analyze production, quality control, or other operational reports to detect production problems


• Mentor assigned personnel and promote efficiency and build leadership and team skills


• Direct process improvements in the work area to gain efficiencies


• Communicate effectively with all team members and ensure miscommunications are minimized


• Coordinate with other senior staff members on personnel, safety, finance, and purchasing issues, looking for ways to increase and enhance all functional areas

Competitive base salary with an annual bonus opportunity. The typical salary range is$105,000-$135,000, depending on location, education and relevant experience.
