Brenntag is seeking a Plant Manager in Wisconsin to oversee full cycle plant operations including blending, packaging, inventory and distribution of chemicals. You will lead production scheduling, safety programs, equipment maintenance and staff development to ensure efficient, compliant and timely delivery to customers.

Ideal candidates have 6–8 years in manufacturing with 5 years in management, a related degree, strong math skills, and experience with scheduling in dynamic environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, business administration or similar field.
  • 6-8 years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.

Job description

The Plant Manager is responsible for oversight of full cycle plant operations to include leadership of employees, organization of production and ensuring the plant runs smoothly, quickly, efficiently and safely. Key areas of production include blending, packaging, inventory and distribution of chemical products to meet customer demand.

This role will maintain optimum operation by assigning work, creating and keeping work and production schedules, hiring and training new employees, collecting and looking through data to find places of waste or places of improvement, keep an eye on worker safety and plant safety, monitor the production equipment to make sure that it stays in good working order, and repair or replace the equipment when needed. The Plant Manager is responsible for quality control prior to products leaving the plant. They communicate with upper management on trends on plant performance, forecasts for future performances, and other issues.

Employee, customer and community safety standards are achieved in this position by:
  • Providing training, guidance and support to employees on safe handling of product and behaviors that ensure the right product and documentation are distributed to customers
  • Creating an environment that promotes employee awareness and problem solving related to safe operations
  • Ensuring space utilization in the plant and warehouse meet required industry standards
  • Working with internal and/or external resources to ensure safe and effective equipment and facility operation
Customer focus standards are achieved in this position by:
  • Communicating and cooperating with internal resources to resolve problems and concerns on behalf of customers
  • Ensuring safe and timely delivery of orders through scheduling, prioritizing, and routing of trucks and railcars
  • Ensuring accurate and timely regulatory and customer required paperwork/record keeping for all internal and external auditors and agencies
Efficiency standards are achieved in this position by:

Education

Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, business administration or similar field is preferred. Years of experience and management courses will be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

Required Experience

6-8 years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment

5 years’ management experience within a manufacturing environment

Strong mathematical ability and computer skills including understanding of desktop applications

Proven track record of safety and executing safety programs

Experience with production scheduling and execution in a dynamic and quick-changing environment

Preferred Experience

Experience in a chemical manufacturer or chemical distributor

Knowledge of chemical handling

Some environmental compliance knowledge

Internal and external audits, preferably by government agencies
