Job summary

KODIAK Construction Recruiting & Staffing is seeking a seasoned Production Manager to lead operations in a large-scale, project-driven manufacturing environment near Houston. You will oversee multiple shifts and a 700–800-strong workforce, driving safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in manufacturing operations and 7+ years of leadership, with a proven ability to manage through layers of management and coordinate cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in progressive manufacturing or industrial operations.
  • 7+ years in manufacturing leadership.
  • Experience leading large-scale manufacturing operations with several hundred employees; experience with 500+ employees is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead through multiple levels of management (managers, supervisors, frontline leaders).
  • Experience managing multiple production departments/shifts in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in heavy industrial manufacturing, fabrication, mechanical assembly, or similar operations.
  • Experience managing production schedules, capacity, labor planning, budgets, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain/Purchasing, Planning, and Project Management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership across a large, multi-department manufacturing organization with 700–800 employees.
  • Lead through Production Managers, Supervisors, Leads, and frontline leadership across multiple shifts.
  • Plan workforce, capacity, equipment, and resource requirements based on backlog and forecasted demand.
  • Drive daily execution across fabrication, mechanical assembly, production, and supporting functions.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Planning, Project Management, and Operations leadership.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for safety, quality, productivity, labor utilization, and on-time delivery.
  • Develop supervisors and managers via coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Drive Lean, standard work, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain strong safety culture and compliance with HSE programs (Lockout/Tagout).
  • Support budgeting, labor forecasting, capital planning, and cost control.

Location: Houston, TX

Compensation: $120,000–$140,000 annually

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead operations within a large-scale, project-driven manufacturing environment supporting a workforce of approximately 700–800 employees.

This is a senior manufacturing leadership opportunity requiring experience managing through multiple layers of leadership, including managers, supervisors, leads, and skilled craft personnel. The ideal candidate has successfully led complex manufacturing operations where safety, quality, labor utilization, cost, schedule, and customer delivery are critical performance measures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership across a large, multi-department manufacturing organization supporting approximately 700–800 employees.
  • Lead through Production Managers, Supervisors, Leads, and other frontline leadership across multiple shifts and production areas.
  • Plan workforce, capacity, equipment, and resource requirements based on backlog and forecasted production demand.
  • Drive daily execution across fabrication, mechanical assembly, production, and supporting manufacturing functions.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Planning, Project Management, and Operations leadership.
  • Ensure customer projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to quality requirements.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs related to safety, quality, productivity, labor utilization, schedule attainment, cost, and on-time delivery.
  • Develop supervisors and managers through coaching, performance management, succession planning, and accountability.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, standard work, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE programs, including Lockout/Tagout.
  • Support department budgeting, labor forecasting, capital planning, and manufacturing cost control.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing or industrial operations experience.
  • 7+ years of manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale manufacturing operations with several hundred employees; experience supporting organizations of 500+ employees strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience leading through multiple levels of management, including managers, supervisors, and frontline leaders.
  • Experience managing multiple production departments and/or shifts in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in heavy industrial manufacturing, fabrication, mechanical assembly, engineered equipment, or similar operations.
  • Experience managing production schedules, capacity, labor planning, budgets, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong cross-functional experience working with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain/Purchasing, Planning, and Project Management.
Technical Experience Preferred

Experience with some or all of the following is highly desirable:

  • Pumps, motors, valves, and control valves
  • Process piping and instrumentation
  • Skid-mounted or modular equipment
  • Fabrication, welding, machining, and mechanical assembly
  • P&IDs, piping isometrics, and engineering assembly drawings
  • ERP/MRP production systems
  • ISO-certified manufacturing environments
  • Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma
Ideal Background

We are particularly interested in manufacturing leaders coming from large heavy-industrial facilities involving engineered equipment, oil & gas equipment, modular systems, industrial machinery, power equipment, fabrication, aerospace/defense, shipbuilding, or other complex manufacturing operations.
