Job summary

HARTING Manufacturing Inc. a North American subsidiary of the global HARTING group, seeks a Production Manager to lead safe, efficient manufacturing of value-added products.

You will plan, direct, and coordinate activities, supervise the production team, and drive continuous improvement across several value streams. The role requires an engineering degree, 8+ years in production planning with leadership experience, and familiarity with ISO/AS standards and SAP R/3.

Qualifications

• Technical degree in engineering or related field is required.
• Minimum 8 years in production planning with 3+ years in manufacturing management.
• Familiar with ISO 9000/14000 and AS 9100 regulations.
• Experience with cable and backplane assemblies and surface mount tech is preferred.
• Proven Lean manufacturing site management and SAP R/3 experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing activities for value-added products.
• Supervise all production department employees; hire, train, and evaluate staff.
• Develop metrics, monitor KPI’s, and drive continuous improvement.
• Balance staffing with overtime and temporary staffing as needed.

Job description

We are seeking a Production Manager than can help Plan, establish, direct and coordinate activities concerned with safe manufacturing processes at HARTING, Inc. of North America for value-added products.

To succeed in this role, you will be highly driven to:

• Understand and implement conformity to applicable procedures, work instructions and quality standards.
• Develop and implement the use of metrics to monitor production output, drive planning and reduce costs.
• Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and make adjustments in order to meet company goals.
• Conduct team meetings with cell leaders and other functions, as appropriate to share achievements and to discuss opportunities for improvement.
• Monitor and maintain expected production efficiency and quality; notify production planning or engineering of concerns due to people, equipment and tools.
• Monitor the production of new products and new product releases.
• Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs for management decision-making; communicate production activities to customer service and production planner to organize delivery dates and schedule.
• Develop, evaluate, and constantly improve manufacturing methods; implement programs for continuous improvement for better quality; report on deviations from the planned norm.
• Coordinate production activities with procurement, facilities maintenance and quality assurance activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
• Balance staffing according to demand through use of overtime or temporary staffing, as needed.
• Understand, implement and maintain conformity to applicable procedures and work instructions; initiate changes in procedures and work instructions, if necessary.
• Ensure adherence to company safety standards and set maintenance and repair priorities.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Directly supervise all production department employees.
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; staff development; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Skills and experience to thrive in this role:

• Technical degree in engineering or related field of study
• Minimum 8 years of experience in production planning with at least 3 years in manufacturing management.
• Familiar with ISO 9000/14000 and AS 9100 regulations.
• Experience in Cable Assembly Production, including small and large assemblies, harness and coax styles
• Experience in backplane assembly process, including surface mount technology, press-fit, hand assembly and test
• Proven success with Lean Manufacturing site management.
• Prior industry experience and/or proven knowledge of electrical connectors and connector assembly (HARTING).
• Experience in SAP R/3 – Production, MRP Planning and Engineering functions.
• Experience or training with JIT techniques, team based organization and work redesign is preferred.
• Ability to design and supervise construction of small hand assembly fixtures using CAD software is desired.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Self-motivated.
• Strong organizational skills.

Compensation:

• HARTING's Total Compensation Structure includes a Base Salary and Bonus Percentage.
• Competitive salary : $90,000 - $120,000 dlls (commensurate with experience)
• This role is eligible for a 5% discretionary annual bonus.
• 21 days PTO (Paid Time Off) to start – quickly earn more PTO as you stick with us (36 days max).
