Job summary

Silgan Containers is seeking a Production Manager Trainee to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will participate in a 9–12 month training program to learn the art of can-making and support day-to-day operations under upper management.

The role emphasizes technical and mechanical aptitude, safety compliance, and developing staff while managing equipment and production metrics in a large metal packaging operation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; higher degree preferred.
  • 2+ years experience with manufacturing machinery and tools; 1+ year supervisory experience.
  • Solid technical and mechanical aptitude; strong organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication and social skills; results-focused and detail-oriented.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including statistical knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a 9–12 month technical training program to learn can-making.
  • Assist upper management with day-to-day operations.
  • Apply safety procedures and identify safety improvements.
  • Write reports and discuss can manufacturing processes with plant management.
  • Use basic quality tools and SPC standards to improve production outcomes.
  • Develop and train staff.
  • Manage equipment, material usage, production, and people.

What you’ll do:
