Job summary

Silgan Containers is seeking a Production Management Development Trainee at our Breinigsville, PA plant. The program runs eight to ten months and trains you to supervise production, manage daily processes, and operate a range of machinery in union and nonunion plants.

You will build leadership, learn statistical process methods, and prepare for operations management roles with the chance to advance to supervisor and plant management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical degree preferred.
• 2+ years in manufacturing or production operations including setup and maintenance of machinery.
• 1+ year supervisory or leadership experience in manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Build skills through structured training program (~8–10 months) developing supervision of production and equipment management.
• Assist plant management with daily operations, staff supervision, and production planning.
• Apply statistical process methods and basic quality tools to optimize production.
• Manage production throughput while adhering to safety procedures.
• Enforce standard operating procedures and assist with training and developing plant staff.
• Oversee teams across locations, including labor contracts and workplace relations.
