Job summary

Silgan Containers is seeking a Production Management Development Trainee to join its program and gain essential experience in operations management at one of the leading metal food can manufacturers in the United States.

The structured training runs for about eight to ten months, covering supervision of production, daily processes, and working with a range of machinery in both union and nonunion plants. Candidates with related degrees and leadership potential are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
• Two or more years of experience in manufacturing or production operations, including setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
• One or more years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with a track record of improving team performance and meeting production goals.

Responsibilities

• Build your skills through a structured training program lasting about eight to ten months and develop expertise in supervising production and daily processes.
• Assist plant management with daily operations, including staff supervision, production planning, and equipment management.
• Apply statistical process methods and basic quality tools (diagrams, flow charts, run charts, control charts) to optimize production.
• Manage production throughput and ensure efficient use of equipment and materials while following safety procedures.
• Enforce standard operating procedures and assist with training and developing plant staff.
• Oversee teams in various locations, manage labor contracts, and foster positive workplace relations.

What You Will Do as a Production Management Trainee:
