Job summary

American Packaging Corporation is seeking a maintenance technician for the DeForest, WI plant on a 7pm–7am 2-2-3 schedule. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing and related equipment, including hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.

The role requires a two-year certificate in machining or electronics and a readiness to work safely under LO/TO policies. Ideal candidates will have experience using testing equipment and a strong ability to read

Qualifications

  • Two-year certificate from college or technical school with a focus in machining and/or electronics; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and to interpret bar graphs.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, adjust and maintain manufacturing and ancillary equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, adjust and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.
  • Use monitoring and testing equipment to facilitate troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Follow safety policies LO/TO and electrical safety; perform other duties as assigned.

LOCATION: DeForest, WI
SHIFT: 7pm-7am (2-2-3 Schedule)
SUMMARY: Use experience and skills to troubleshoot, repair, adjust and maintain manufacturing and ancillary equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Troubleshoot, repair, adjust and maintain manufacturing and ancillary equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, adjust and maintain hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.
  • Possess an ability to use monitoring and testing equipment to facilitate in the troubleshooting, repairing, adjusting, and maintaining of manufacturing and ancillary equipment.
  • It is the responsibility of the maintenance individual to further his abilities, skills knowledge to expand his capabilities in troubleshooting, repairing, adjusting and maintaining existing as well as new equipment and technology.
  • Responsible for working safely, follow LO/TO and electrical safety policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Two-year certificate from college or technical school with a focus in machining and/or electronics; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. This position may require manual lifting not to exceed 50 lbs – reference your department-specific JHA (job hazard analysis) for departmental lifting restrictions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; risk of radiation; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
