Job description

Job Purpose

The Production Machine Operator is responsible for operating various production machines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate all types of tools and machines necessary for the job, such as forming, punching, cutting, and other common sheet metal machines, including a variety of hand tools.
  • Use blueprints to select appropriate tooling and operate machinery to produce the required quality of product.
  • Utilize existing control programs on various machines to create parts.
  • Select the proper thickness and gauge of material as specified by shop documents.
  • Perform visual inspections of parts before and after each operation, following inspection procedures to ensure all parts meet quality standards.
  • Secure and band material when transporting parts.
  • Understand routing processes and be able to input/retrieve information on a computer.
  • Perform tasks safely, efficiently, and productively according to company policy.
  • Contribute to team efforts to produce quality products safely and efficiently.
  • Attend scheduled work hours reliably and maintain good attendance.
  • Work mandatory overtime as required. Other duties may be assigned by the company.
Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent, based on experience.

Licenses/Certifications: Not applicable.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Accurately use precision measuring equipment such as tape measures, micrometers, squares, and protractors.
  • Read blueprints effectively.
  • Have basic math skills, including converting decimals to fractions and vice versa.
  • Operate computerized and automated equipment.
