Job summary

Smithers-Oasis is hiring a Production Line Operator at our Hudson, OH location to support a growing manufacturing operation. The role involves operating machinery, assembling and packaging products, inspecting quality, and maintaining safety.

A high school diploma or GED and 1–2 years in manufacturing are required; overtime may apply. Starting pay is $22.00 per hour, with higher pay based on relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; ability to perform basic math calculations.
• Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Works overtime as needed.
• Must be able to follow detailed instructions and standard practices; requires initiative.
• Conformity to standard safety practices to ensure safety for others.
• Workflow is controlled by constant pressure for completion; pace control varies by production needs.
• May direct and train others on occasion.
• Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, bending or stooping, and substantial standing/walking.

Responsibilities

• Operates all assigned machinery as directed, following safe operating procedures.
• Assembles, fabricates and packages products under Site Lead or Operations Manager guidance.
• Inspects, labels and marks products to meet quality standards; reports issues to Site Lead.
• Monitors machinery daily for malfunctions and reports concerns to Site Lead or Operations Manager.
• Maintains high speed to meet daily production schedules and keeps work areas clean and safe.
• Performs other duties as required and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

Some Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Production Line Operator include (but are not limited to):

• Operates all assigned machinery as directed, while following safe operating procedures.
• Assembles, fabricates and packages all products under the direction of the Site Lead or Operations Manager.
• Sorts, inspects, labels and marks products as required to ensure high quality standards. Notifies Site Lead or Operations Manager if product does not meet required standards.
• Checks assigned machinery daily for malfunctions and informs Site Lead or Operations Manager of any problems or safety concerns.
• Maintains high speed, as needed, in order to meet daily production schedules.
• Removes all scrap material from assigned work areas and follows proper disposal protocol.
• Completes all necessary records and reports as assigned.
• Maintains clean and safe working area according to the established safety procedures.
• Can be assigned to other departments or locations, as production requires.
• Will act as a backup to the Site Lead as needed; therefore, must be able to operate all equipment and follow all production and safety procedures.
• Participates in and supports Smithers-Oasis continuous improvement activities.
• Supports and leads by example the Core Values of the organization.
• Performs any other duties as required.

• Workflow is controlled by constant pressure for completion. Individual has a fair amount of control over pace of work to meet deadlines.
• May direct and train others on occasion.
• Works with average weight materials. Operation of machines may require bending or stooping. Considerable standing and walking. Depending on speed of equipment, may require above average effort.
• May require high degree of manual dexterity, concentration and speed.Frequent exposure to one or more disagreeable elements.
• Occasionally required to lift and/or carry a minimum of 50 lbs. A high level of activity and stress is present.
