Job summary

Prysmian Group in Indianapolis seeks experienced Machine Operators for full-time second and third shifts to produce compounds used in cable manufacturing. You will work in a 12-hour shift cycle on a 2-2-3 schedule, joining a team of 6–7 operators under a team coordinator in a busy production area.

Expect physically demanding work: standing on concrete, lifting 50–55 pounds, and exposure to hot environments. PPE is provided, and a strong safety culture is emphasized.

  • Ensure materials, systems, and tooling are ready for upcoming runs.
  • Assist with daily cleaning and housekeeping for safety and quality.
  • Cooperate with team to maintain organization.
  • Perform quality testing and make corrections as needed.
  • Identify and communicate safety hazards.
  • Update systems during production.

Team Overview and Job Responsibilities

Indianapolis Compounds is hiring Machine Operators for full-time second and third shift openings. As a Machine Operator, you will work on a team of 6–7 operators and a team coordinator, supported by a control room operator. Your team will produce compounds used in cable manufacturing across Prysmian plants.

Pay
  • $22.70 - $27.23/hr.
Key Responsibilities
  • Complete routine production activities to keep production flowing
  • Report process changes and system issues
  • Perform cleanouts following appropriate procedures

  • Perform and support daily cleaning and housekeeping activities, which are essential to maintaining safety, product quality, and efficient operations
  • Cooperate with team members to maintain housekeeping and organization standards
  • Perform quality testing and make corrections as needed
  • Identify and communicate safety hazards
  • Update systems throughout the production process
What to Expect in This Role
  • Be on your feet for 12-hour shifts, with extended periods of walking and standing on concrete floors
  • Frequently climb stairs and move throughout a multi-level facility during your shift
  • Regularly lift and handle materials up to 50–55 pounds
  • Work in a hot, non-climate-controlled environment, where temperatures can exceed 90°F at times
  • Be exposed to dust, dirt, noise, and industrial machinery
  • Perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, stooping, and reaching
  • Perform regular cleaning and housekeeping tasks, which are critical to maintaining safety, product quality, and efficient operations
  • Be required to wear PPE and follow strict safety protocols at all times

Important:

This role is best suited for individuals who are comfortable working in physically demanding, fast-paced manufacturing environments and can maintain performance throughout the entire shift.

Shifts
  • Training is completed on a 12-hour shift schedule
  • After training, employees continue working 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule: Week 1: Work Mon/Tue, off Wed/Thu, work Fri/Sat/Sun
  • Week 2: Off Mon/Tue, work Wed/Thu, off Fri/Sat/Sun
Qualifications
