Job summary

Olympic Steel Inc is seeking a Production Lead to supervise the Laser and Plasma areas, coordinate daily production, and minimize downtime to ensure on-time delivery.

The role requires strong leadership, planning, and communication, with the ability to train staff and work closely with Inside Sales and Production Planning to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

• Familiar with Word, Excel, Outlook; SEMS preferred.
• Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts preferred.
• Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication.
• Ability to work independently and in a diverse team.
• Ability to plan and schedule to meet customer needs.
• Ability to lead and train other employees.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Laser and Plasma areas and coordinate all work.
• Minimize downtime and review daily personnel needs.
• Recommend OT and adjustments to hours as needed.
• Collaborate with Leads, Inside Sales and Production Planning to ensure on-time delivery.

Job Description

The Production Lead is responsible for overseeing the Laser and Plasma areas. This Lead will be responsible for ensuring all work is coordinated, minimizing downtime, reviewing the daily personnel needs and recommending OT and reduction in hours as needed. Additionally, the Lead will work closely with other Leads, as well as the Inside Sales and Production Planning departments ensure quality product is delivered on time.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of basic computer applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, SEMS preferred
• Experienced with overhead cranes and forklifts preferred
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work both independently and with a team of diverse individuals
• Ability to plan and schedule to meet customer needs
• Ability to lead and train other employees
