Olympic Steel, Inc. is seeking a Laser Operator to cut parts and manage removal and identification from the cutting table, ensuring correct nozzle selection, material checks, and overall part quality.

You will be responsible for the quality and quantity of parts produced off the table(s). The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of hands-on laser experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to maintain optics and program parameters for efficient cutting

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years hands-on laser cutting experience preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting of materials, feed/speed, nozzles, and lens/consumables.
• Ability to modify laser program parameters to maximize efficiency.
• Daily preventive maintenance like cleaning optics and monitoring gas levels.
• Knowledge of crane operation and lifting devices.
• Detail oriented with ability to inspect material for conformance using measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Cut parts accurately on laser tables and remove/identify cut parts from the table.
• Ensure correct table values, nozzle selection, and material checks.
• Maintain cut quality, transformations and product inspections.
• Ensure quality and quantity of parts produced.
• Support safety and housekeeping on the cutting floor.

Job Description

TheLaserOperatorposition is responsible for all job tasks associated with the cutting of the parts and the proper removal and identification of the cut parts from the cutting table and packaging, including but not limited to: ensuring proper tech table values, nozzle selection, material checks, cut quality, transformations and product inspections. As the Laser Operator, you are responsible for the quality and quantity of the parts coming off the table(s).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience operating laser cutting machinesstrongly preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting skills related to laser operation, including materials, feed/speed settings, nozzles, and laser lens/consumables
• Proficiency in uploading and modifying laser program parameters to maximize cutting efficiency
• Ability to perform daily preventative maintenance tasks such as cleaning optics/lenses and monitoring gas levels
• Solid understanding of laser cutting parameters with the ability to visually identify cutting issues and apply effective problem-solving techniques to adjust settings accordingly
• General knowledge of crane operation and ancillary lifting devices.
• Detail oriented with ability to inspect material for quality conformance through the use of measuring devices and drawings.
