Job summary

Chandon in Yountville, CA is seeking a Lead - an advanced and experienced Operator to oversee a line and effectively lead the team on site. The role requires supervising startup, setup of complex line processes, and ensuring safe, efficient production.

Responsibilities include coaching team members, improving processes, maintaining quality, and coordinating with supervisors on daily operations. A high school diploma and winery experience are preferred; forklift certification is a plus.

• Lead and instruct the start-up and operation of line equipment.

• Review and generate WMS reports and address any discrepancies.

• Able to operate all Advanced workstations (palletizer, labeler, foiler, filler) with a high level of proficiency.

• Able to assess risks and execute complex procedures independently, including unusual or one-off tasks, and lead and instruct other team members to accomplish these tasks as a team

• Able to lead and direct other team members to set up new products or complex line processes effectively

• Demonstrates high competence in all standard WMS tasks, is able to generate and review WMS reports and identify and correct errors.

• Anticipates and prepares for line and order changes to ensure efficient operation

Startups, Changeovers & Closedowns

• Able to deploy team members to effectively respond to complex or multi-faceted startup issues and prioritize responses

• Able to independently complete / lead full changeover process on two or more advanced machines: filler, foiler, labeler

• Able to do daily line start-up on one line (disgorge, tirage or charmat) independently, coordinating work of other start-up team members.

Troubleshooting, Problem Solving, and Maintenance

• Coaches team members to identify and respond to common issues

• Pro-active in suggesting logical solutions/ options to address issues or make improvements

• Plan for/manage resources to ensure line(s) run to maximum efficiency and capacity

Education:

• High school diploma or GED required.

Professional experience & know how:

• 3 years’ winery production experience preferred.

• Knowledge of safe production practices, including safety of equipment and ability to follow procedures.

• Forklift Certification is a plus and offers opportunities for expanded responsibilities.
