Job summary

Dover Corporation in Smithfield, NC, seeks a Safety Quality Assurance Associate to support training, product assembly, and lean manufacturing initiatives. You will help ensure daily production targets are met, follow standard work, and maintain quality and safety records.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and be proficient in English. You will participate in training, perform inspections, and work overtime as needed to support production goals, while adhering to plant policies

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or 4 years of solid manufacturing/production experience.
• Experience planning, scheduling, and monitoring production.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret company documents, such as safety rules, operating/manufacturing instructions, policies, and procedures.
• Sustained above-average attendance record by not exceeding 5 points, or the allowed five call-ins per policy.
• Ability to work overtime to accommodate production/project needs.
• Must be willing to work assigned shift and overtime.
• Must be willing and able to comply with plant safety policies and PPE requirements.
• Ability to listen and take direction by supervisory staff.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs., stand, bend, and work in weather extremes.
• Must have full professional proficiency in English

Responsibilities

• Meet and maintain daily production rates and goals as established by the company.
• Evaluate and monitor efficient movement of production to meet area requirements.
• Schedule and monitor production following company instructions.
• Complete required cell activities and documentation for the assigned work cell.
• Follow processes dictated by standard work instructions.
• Address quality and safety concerns via the appropriate channel.
• Conduct inspections of own and other associates' work for correctness.
• Attend required training and train production staff.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities and lean initiatives.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment (5S).
• Report production abnormalities and keep supervisor informed of cell activity.
• Demonstrate understanding of equipment functionality and troubleshoot within scope.
• Perform re-work and repair activities as needed and requested by supervisor.
• Assist in projects and objectives across departments.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to those responsibilities and essential job functions associated with roles in assembly, molding, shipping, receiving, and new product development.

• Meet and maintain daily production rates & goals as established and required by the company.
• Evaluate and monitor an efficient movement of production to meet area requirements.

• Complete, all required cell activities and documentation for assigned work cell as requested by supervisor.

• Keep supervisor informed of cell activity including but not limited to information related to quality, parts supply, and safety issues that may occur within the scope of responsibility.
• Assure the work environment is clean, orderly, and free of safety hazards (5S).
• Participate in all required continuous improvement activities as requested or required by the company.
• Utilize Lean concepts and provided tool tools to improve the production process.
• Assure the work environment is clean, orderly, and free of safety hazards at all times.
• Actively participate in all department projects, tasks, and objectives including but not limited to continuous improvement activities.
• Maintain the highest ethical standards as well as absolute personal and intellectual integrity, mature judgment, and innate cooperative nature.

Qualifications, Requirements, And Essential Job Functions

• Satisfactory completion of a 30-60-90-day review program
• High School Diploma or GED or 4 years of solid manufacturing/production experience
• Experience in planning, scheduling, and monitoring production
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to analyze and determine methods and procedures.
• Able to read and interpret company documents, such as safety rules, operating/manufacturing instructions, policies, and procedures.
• Sustained above-average attendance record by not exceeding 5 points, or the allowed five (5) call in’s per the OPW attendance policy at any time.
• No history of repeated or severe disciplinary action for violation of OPW company policy
• Satisfactory completion of all required training programs as required by management.
• Ability to work overtime to accommodate production/project needs.
• Must be willing to work assigned shift and overtime.
• Must be willing and able to comply with plant safety policies. As these roles may require the handling of fiberglass and other materials, must be willing and able to wear appropriate PPE.
• Ability to listen and take direction by supervisory staff is key.
• Ability to use gauges for inspection.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Must be able to stand, bend, push, pull, kneel, climb and work in weather extremes.
