Job summary

Engineering Industries, Inc. is an employee-owned plastics manufacturer seeking a Production Lead to keep production moving. You will help startup/shutdown presses, troubleshoot issues, and maintain continuous operations while upholding quality standards.

The role requires 3+ years of hands-on injection molding experience and strong mechanical aptitude. Applicants should have a high school diploma and knowledge of Scientific Molding to support process improvements on the shop floor.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years hands-on injection molding processing experience.
  • Strong understanding of injection molding processes, including machine setup, processing and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and manufacturing best practices.
  • Proven troubleshooting and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to support operators and collaborate with production personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Start up and shut down production operations with supervision.
  • Read specifications, procedures, and work orders to determine set-ups and machine settings.
  • Set controls for vacuum, air pressure, temperature and synchronize machine speeds.
  • Operate and monitor plastic molding machines; maintain process parameters.
  • Investigate and resolve production problems such as material variances or bottlenecks.
  • Identify root causes of failures and suggest changes to processing methods.
  • Monitor meters and gauges for temperatures, pressures, and cycle times.
  • Assist press operators during production runs and troubleshoot jobs as needed.
  • Document parameter discrepancies and follow up on process changes.

Production Lead

This position is responsible for activities associated with the startup and shutdown of presses, as well as troubleshooting issues to maintain continuous production.

What You'll Do
  • Work with Supervisors to start up and shut down production operations.
  • Read specifications, procedures, and work orders to determine set-ups, technicians, and machine settings required to mold plastic materials, as well as plan production sequences.
  • Start machines and set controls to regulate vacuum, air pressure, temperature, and to synchronize speed of injection molding machines.
  • Operate and manipulate machine controls, including push-button interfaces, to safely initiate, control, and monitor production equipment while maintaining established process parameters.
  • Investigate and resolve operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks.
  • Determine root causes of failures and recommend changes to processing methods using statistical procedures.
  • Observe meters and gauges to verify and record temperatures, pressures, and press-cycle times.
  • Monitor equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Clear jams and remove defective or substandard materials or products.
  • Observe continuous operation of automatic machines to ensure that products meet specifications and to detect jams or malfunctions, adjusting as necessary.
  • Assist press operators during production runs by resolving production issues and troubleshooting jobs as needed.
  • Document parameter discrepancies to supervisors and Engineering. Follow up on changes needed to production processes.
  • Operate or tend plastic molding machines to mold thermoplastic parts.
  • Demonstrate personal safety and help maintain a safe work environment for yourself and other members of the Production team by following all company safety rules and guidelines.
What We're Looking For
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on injection molding processing experience.
  • Education in injection molding and ability to apply the principles of Scientific Molding.
  • Strong understanding on injection molding processes, including machine set up, processing, troubleshooting and primary and secondary operations.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Proven troubleshooting and complex problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of molding machines, tooling, and related manufacturing equipment.
  • Self‑directed and results oriented with the ability to prioritize work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to support operators, collaborate with production personnel, and share information effectively.
  • Ability to adapt to frequently changing production priorities and manage multiple projects independently.
