Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in Stafford Springs, CT is seeking a Production Operator to support line operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role involves operating production equipment, performing quality checks, and packaging materials while adhering to safety and GMP standards.

The position requires standing for long shifts, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and wearing a respirator. Prior manufacturing experience and familiarity with cGMP are preferred, with comprehensive benefits

Responsibilities

• Support Line Operator in operating production equipment with authority to stop production if safety or quality is at risk.
• Safely shut down equipment if necessary when operator absent.
• Perform quality tests and maintain accurate run records.
• Collaborate with team to ensure smooth operations.
• Inspect and pack material as it comes off the line.
• Seek advice regarding quality standards and machine functions.
• Observe all safety rules and report hazards.
• May be assigned other duties including training by supervision.

A Day in the Life

• Supports Line Operator in operating production equipment as outlined in work instructions using judgment to correct problems, with authority to stop production when equipment, safety or product quality is in jeopardy.
• Able to safely shut down equipment, if necessary, in the absence of the Line Operator.
• Perform quality tests and maintainaccurate records throughout the run.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations.
• Accurately processes, inspects and packs material as it comes off the line.
• Seeks advice regarding quality standards and machine functions.
• Observes all plant, company and department safety rules. Reports any and all safety hazards to supervision.
• 12 hour rotating schedule including every other weekend.
• Keeps work area neat, clean and orderly.
• Properly labels all products produced.
• May require handling hazardous waste.
• May be assigned other miscellaneous duties (including training) by department supervision/leadership. Must perform all essential functions of the position as identifiedon the applicable Employer Job Description maintained in the Occupational Health Office.

Basic Qualifications:

• Basic math skills including the use of formulas, decimals, and fractions required.
• Knowledge of simple measuring devices.
• Ability to stand for a 12-hour period.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Able to wear a respirator.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• 1+ years of work experience in manufacturing, operations, production, lab setting or related field is preferred. Basic knowledge of machinery is preferred.
• Experience in a cGMP environment is preferred.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

This role entails standing for long periods, operating machinery, and handling materials. You must be able to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Connecticut is $17.71–$26.56.
