Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific in Plainville, MA is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Maintenance Technician for the 2nd shift (3:00pm–1:30am, Mon–Thu or Tue–Fri).

The role supports GMP clinical and commercial manufacturing equipment, pilot plants, and QC lab systems, with a +10% shift differential. You will respond to alarms, perform preventive/corrective maintenance on bioreactors, mixers, TFF systems, and other critical equipment, while ensuring regulatory compliance and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience in GMP regulated environment and cleanroom operations.
• Direct experience supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing processes preferred.
• Familiarity with SOPs and GMP regulations.

Responsibilities

• Support GMP clinical and commercial manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
• Respond to alarms and troubleshoot maintenance issues during campaigns.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on bioreactors, mixers, centrifuges, TFF systems, refrigerators, freezers, incubators, and stability chambers.
• Support utility systems and facility operations in a regulated setting.
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability, performance, and compliance.
• Maintain maintenance documentation and follow SOPs.
• Participate in on-call rotation for 24/7 maintenance support.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, engineering, and facilities teams.

How Will You Make an Impact?:

The Sr. Manufacturing Maintenance Technician: A motivated self-starter with prominent levels of initiative. This technician will assist in support with customers, and the other mechanicals for all daily operations. Responsible for supporting and maintaining the GMP clinical/commercial manufacturing and facility process equipment, Pilot Plant and QC laboratory equipment. Respond to utility and equipment related alarms, and maintenance issues during manufacturing campaigns.

A Day in the Life:

• Support and maintain GMP clinical and commercial manufacturing process equipment, facility systems, pilot plant equipment, and QC laboratory equipment
• Respond to utility and equipment alarms and troubleshoot maintenance issues during manufacturing campaigns
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment including bioreactors, mixers, centrifuges, tangential flow filtration (TFF) systems, refrigerators, freezers, incubators, and stability chambers
• Support utility systems and facility operations within a regulated manufacturing environment
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, operational performance, and regulatory compliance
• Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and follow established procedures and SOPs
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 maintenance support as required
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, engineering, and facilities teams to support operational goals

Keys to Success:

Education

• High School Diploma, Secondary Education, Advanced Certificate, Trade Licensure, or equivalent required

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing, operations, production, laboratory, or related environment required
• Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) preferred
• Direct experience supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing processes within an FDA and/or EMA regulated environment preferred
• Experience working in a cleanroom environment preferred
• Prior experience as a GMP Maintenance Technician preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Direct experience supporting utility systems within a regulated industry
• Knowledge of GMP regulations and experience working within an SOP-driven environment
• Training and experience with formal problem-solving methodologies
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with maintenance management systems
• Experience with Single Use Technologies (SUBs and SUMs) preferred
• Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) preferred
• Ability to aseptically gown and/or sterile gown as required
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs to a height of 4 feet
• Ability to work in manufacturing, laboratory, and cleanroom environments as required
• Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and sterile gowning when necessary
• Participation in an on-call rotation to provide off-hours support

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $24.00 - $36.25.
