Job description

Responsibilities

• Perform all the various job tasks included in the production of bread and rolls.
• Attends to the roll‑dividing equipment to straighten dough balls in pans or trays to meet product specifications.
• Attends to the bread‐rounding equipment to place dough balls into pie tins to meet product specifications.
• Supplies other employees with empty pie tins.
• Monitors conveyors for jams and clears jams safely.
• Inspects products for damage or for conformity to specifications.
• Notifies the supervisor of any non‑conformance of product.
• Pushed material or products between machines or departments on a dolly.
• Picks up pans from the dolly and places them onto the conveyor or removes them from the conveyor and places them on a dolly.
• Moves pan racks and dollies to or from the area.
• Starts or stops conveyors by pushing buttons on a control panel.
• Keeps work area clean and organized by picking up debris, sweeping the floor, wiping down equipment and performing other sanitation jobs assigned.
• Attends the box former by starting and stopping the machine when necessary, keeping the magazine full and clearing jams safely.
• Helps the mixer by opening boxes or bags of ingredients and loading them into mixer hoppers or feeders.
• Performs other tasks that may arise in the production area after appropriate training.
• Helps in the training of new employees or employees who change job classifications.
• Reports all equipment problems to the foreman or supervisor immediately.
• Promotes safety by understanding and following safety procedures and reporting all incidents in a timely manner.
• Plans and carries out job assignments without creating hazards to yourself and other employees.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals written in English.
• Ability to write routine quality assurance reports and correspondence in English.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear.
• Specific vision abilities required include close distance color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• May require use of equipment in the machine shop, small portable equipment and manual tools.
• Duties may require the occasional operation of a motor vehicle or travel to another state on behalf of the company.
• Position operates on a shift basis and may be scheduled to work all shifts.
• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles and extreme cold.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually high.
