Job summary

Johnson Electric is seeking a Production Group Lead to oversee manufacturing operations on the Vandalia site. The role involves supervising operators, performing time studies, leading process improvements, and ensuring safety, quality, and delivery targets are met.

You will create and update work instructions, monitor scrap, manage materials via BOMs, and support labeling programs while driving Lean initiatives on the line.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in all functions of Production Operator role.
• Strong ability to read, interpret, and act on drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail and color discernment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing or GK improvement initiatives is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support production operators to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
• Perform router markups and maintain router revision updates.
• Conduct time studies to improve process efficiency and labor utilization.
• Create, revise, and maintain GWIs.
• Monitor scrap and rework activities and implement corrective actions.
• Identify and lead process improvement projects to enhance productivity and quality.
• Maintain and update product labeling programs.
• Complete production reporting documentation (labor, corrective actions, quality).
• Select and identify required materials using BOMs.
• Ensure compliance with Lean, safety, and operational guidelines.
• Participate in GK and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform equipment setups and support assembly operations as needed.
• Train operators on new processes and work instructions.
• Set up and run new and existing product configurations per packets and specs.
• Verify products meet all quality requirements before transfer.
