Job summary

The HEICO Companies, LLC is seeking a Forklift Operator to move materials and finished products across production areas and staging zones. You will operate forklifts, weigh items, and support inventory and material flow with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities include coordinating with machine operators, maintaining stock, and adhering to QA guidelines while working outdoors in varying weather. Union participation after 30 days may apply.

Qualifications

  • High School or Equivalent required.
  • Must be 18+ years old.
  • Must pass pre-employment background, drug/alcohol, and physical screenings.
  • Must understand tags/labels in the mill.
  • Must read and understand production schedules and production cards.
  • Must use a bar code reader.
  • Must work independently and in teams with internal/external customers.
  • Ability to think strategically and problem solve.
  • Must work outdoors in all weather.
  • Forklift/Material Handling experience – at least 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Transports wire, stands, spools, and other materials within the mill using a forklift.
  • Coordinates with production operators to ensure materials arrive when needed and finished products are moved efficiently.
  • Operates forklift and other machinery safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain housekeeping and comply with safety rules and regulations.
  • Weigh finished products and move to the appropriate department or staging area.
  • Maintain organized stock and assist in inventory preparation.
  • Uphold quality specifications per QA guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Forklift Operator position is responsible for distributing stands, wire, and other material as necessary to and from the production areas. This position is also responsible for weighing, and tagging finished product and transporting it to the various departments or staging them in the designated holding areas.

The Company US Wire Group is the parent of three independent companies (five manufacturing facilities) which produce steel wire and cable/wire related products that serve many industries.

Salary Range: $24/hour

The Position The Forklift Operator position is responsible for distributing stands, wire, and other material as necessary to and from the production areas. Job Description
  • Transports wire, stands, spools, and other materials as needed to various locations within the mill, and limited areas in the yard with a forklift.
  • Coordinates activities with production machine operators to ensure that raw materials arrive when required and finished product is removed from the various production areas in an efficient manner.
  • Operate a forklift and other machinery in a safe responsible manner.
  • Maintain good standards of housekeeping in general work area and observe and comply with all safety rules and regulations
  • Weigh finished products and move to respective department or staging areas.
  • Maintain organization of stock, and assist in inventory preparation
  • Maintain proper quality specifications as per Quality Assurance guidelines
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned
Job Requirements
  • High School or Equivalent
  • Must be 18 years or older due to work environment and labor laws
  • Must be able to pass preemployment background, drug/alcohol, and physical screenings
  • Must be able to understand various tags and labels used in the mill,
  • Must be able to read and understand production schedule and production cards
  • Must be able to use bar code reader
  • Must be able to work independently, as a team, and be able to work with both internal and external customers
  • Ability to think strategically and problem solve
  • Must be able to work inside and outside in all kinds of weather conditions
  • Forklift/Material Handling experience - at least one year's experience
  • Some computer knowledge - to use scale
  • Available to work overtime and shift schedule of 12 days on 2 days off
  • Must join Union upon completion of 30 days of employment
  • Authorized to work for any employer in the United States of America
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work outside in all kinds of weather conditions, and in a dusty environment around metals
  • Sight - hand and eye coordination, depth perception needed to operate forklift
  • Hearing - must be able to hear others and warning sounds of forklift and other heavy machinery
  • Speech - must be able to communicate effectively with others while working
  • Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and lift for long periods - frequent to constant
  • Must be able to squat, stoop, twist, climb, crawl, reach, grasp, and fine manipulation, operate foot controls, and work above shoulders occasional to constant
  • Must be able to lift 25 to 50 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Must be able to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and overhead crane
