Job summary

Whirlwind Steel is seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to move long pieces and materials, up to 50 feet in length and weighing as much as 2 tons, using a forklift and overhead crane in a fast-paced facility. You will ensure loads are positioned and secured properly while maintaining safety and efficiency.

The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and able to communicate effectively with teammates to keep production moving smoothly. Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven forklift operator experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Experience with overhead crane loading/unloading.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and PPE usage.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift to move materials within the warehouse.
• Load and unload with an overhead crane, securing loads up to 2 tons and 50 ft.
• Perform pre-operational checks on equipment.

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator with experience in moving long pieces and utilizing overhead cranes for loading and unloading tasks. These items can be up to 50' in length and weigh up to 2 tons. The ideal candidate will be safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and proficient in operating heavy machinery in a fast-paced environment. This position plays a crucial role in our operations, ensuring the efficient and safe movement of materials and products.
Key Responsibilities

• Operate forklift to transport pieces of materials within the warehouse or manufacturing facility.
• Safely load and unload materials/products using an overhead crane, ensuring proper positioning and securing of loads.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established procedures for material handling.
• Perform pre-operational checks on forklift and overhead crane to ensure they are in good working condition.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work areas, including organizing materials for efficient storage and retrieval.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow and prioritize tasks.
  

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a forklift operator, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience with overhead crane operations, including loading/unloading of heavy materials.
