Job description

About the role

Like variety? As a Production Flex Technician at Lightning Nutraceuticals, you won't be stuck doing the same task all day. You'll be cross-trained to work in Pre-Weigh/Dispensing, Blending, and on our Packaging Line, moving where the production schedule needs you most. It's a hands-on role for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, and wants to learn the full manufacturing process for dietary supplements.

What you'll do

Your assignment will change based on daily production needs. We'll train you in each area below.

Pre-Weigh / Dispensing
  • Weigh and dispense raw materials exactly to the batch record, using calibrated scales and verifying lot numbers, item codes, and quantities.
  • Perform and document daily scale verifications before use.
  • Label, stage, and segregate dispensed materials by batch to prevent mix-ups.
  • Complete second-person verification checks on weighed materials when required.
  • Report short, damaged, or discrepant raw materials to the lead and Inventory before proceeding.
Blending
  • Set up, operate, and break down blending equipment per SOP and the master batch record.
  • Charge ingredients in the specified order and run blends for the required time and speed.
  • Discharge, weigh, and label finished blends; record yields and any deviations.
  • Clean and sanitize blenders, utensils, and rooms between batches and during allergen or product changeovers.
  • Complete line clearance and cleaning logs before a new batch starts.
Packaging line
  • Operate and support packaging equipment such as bottle unscramblers, fillers/counters, cottoners, desiccant inserters, cappers, induction sealers, labelers, and cartoners.
  • Perform in-process checks: counts, fill weights, cap torque, seal integrity, label placement, and lot/expiration coding.
  • Load components (bottles, caps, labels, inserts, cartons) and confirm they match the packaging record.
  • Hand-pack, case-pack, palletize, and label finished goods for the warehouse.
  • Perform line clearance at the start and end of every run and at each changeover.
All areas
  • Follow cGMPs, SOPs, and batch records exactly; record entries in real time, accurately and legibly (good documentation practices).
  • Wear required PPE and gowning, and follow safety, sanitation, and allergen-control procedures.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized (5S); assist with deep cleaning and housekeeping.
  • Support routine equipment checks and report maintenance issues promptly.
  • Communicate status, issues, and handoffs clearly at shift change and between departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support production goals.
Qualifications
Required
  • 1+ year of experience in manufacturing, production, or a warehouse setting.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written SOPs and batch records in English.
  • Basic math skills for weights, counts, and unit conversions (g, kg, lb).
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate, legible handwriting for documentation.
  • Willingness to rotate between departments and adjust to schedule changes on short notice.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred
  • Experience in a cGMP environment: dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, food, or cosmetics.
  • Hands-on experience with any of: dispensing/pre-weigh, powder blending, encapsulation, or bottle packaging lines.
  • Forklift or pallet jack certification.

Physical requirements and work environment

  • Stand and walk for the full shift (8-10+ hours), with frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand motion.
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 50 lb regularly, and up to 55 lb - confirm with assistance or lifting aids.
  • Wear full gowning and PPE for extended periods: hairnet, beard cover, gloves, lab coat or smock, safety glasses, dust mask or respirator, and safety shoes.
  • Work around fine powders, botanical odors, and common food allergens (such as milk, soy, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, and wheat).
  • Work near moving machinery with moderate to high noise; hearing protection provided where required.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read labels, lot codes, and scale displays, and to perform visual inspections.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
