Job summary

BASF Agricultural Solutions in Brooks, Oregon seeks a Production Field Technician to support seed production from soil prep to harvest. You will load/unload stock seed, supervise seasonal workers, operate tractors and harvest equipment, and perform maintenance on field production gear, while applying crop protection treatments and assisting with irrigation and manual weed control.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2+ years in farming or seed production, and a pesticide applicator license;

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 2+ years farming or seed production experience.
• Experience cultivating vegetable crops.
• Possess pesticide applicator license compliance.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist seed production from soil preparation to harvest.
• Load and unload stock seed, roots, and bulbs; sort onion bulbs for quality and traceability.
• Supervise seasonal workers and rogueing crews as needed.
• Operate tractors, harvesting equipment, and machinery safely.
• Maintain and repair production equipment and materials.
• Apply crop protection treatments with correct rates.
• Support irrigation management and manual weed control.

As a Production Field Technician, you create chemistry by...

• Assisting with all aspects of seed production, from soil preparation through harvest.
• Managing critical agricultural activities, including loading and unloading stock seed, roots and bulbs, identifying and removing pollinator plants or rows, and sorting and boxing onion bulbs to ensure quality, traceability, and timely delivery.
• Supervising seasonal workers and rogueing crews as needed to support field operations.
• Operating tractors, harvesting equipment, and other machinery in accordance with operational requirements and safety regulations.
• Maintaining and repairing production equipment and materials to support efficient field operations.
• Executing crop protection applications, including calculating and applying appropriate treatment rates for disease control.
• Participating in agronomic and cultural practices such as irrigation management and manual weed control.

If you...

• Have a high school diploma and at least two years of farming, seed production, or agricultural operations experience.
• Bring experience cultivating vegetable crops.
• Possess or can obtain and maintain a pesticide applicator license in compliance with applicable regulations.
• Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain agricultural equipment.
• Leverage effective verbal and written communication skills along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Have the ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
• The ability to speak spanish is preferred.
