Job summary

BASF Agricultural Solutions is seeking a Senior Portfolio Development Manager, Soy CS, to shape the global portfolio strategy for Soy Crop System products across Drive Countries. You’ll lead cross-functional teams through development, launch, and lifecycle initiatives, influencing major business decisions and optimizing profitability.

The role requires a strong track record in product development, global positioning, and executive-level collaboration, with extensive experience in crop protection

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is required.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in crop protection, strategic marketing, product management, or related agricultural function.
• Experience in soy, corn, and cotton crop geographies is preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership of large-scale, multi-region portfolio, development, launch, or lifecycle initiatives.
• Ability to influence broad organizational decisions and secure senior cross-functional alignment without direct authority.
• Mastery of product development, global positioning, claims, launch governance, registration, and lifecycle management.
• Advanced business and financial acumen, including portfolio scenarios and P&L implications.
• Executive communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and planning-team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Shape and integrate the long-term global portfolio strategy for Soy Crop System products across Drive Countries.
• Lead end-to-end product development and launch programs with cross-functional plans.
• Influence major portfolio and business decisions by integrating market potential, differentiation, regulatory feasibility, and P&L implications into senior recommendations.
• Lead global lifecycle and portfolio-risk strategy, including re-registration and label extensions.
• Serve as a portfolio authority and senior cross-functional leader, guiding planning teams and governance.
• Mentor Portfolio Development Managers and cross-functional colleagues.

• Shaping and integrating the long-term global portfolio strategy for assigned Soy Crop System products across Drive Countries, translating crop-system priorities into differentiated positioning and go-to-market direction.
• Leading complex end-to-end product development and launch programs, establishing cross-functional plans covering target product profile, claims, dossier, pricing logic, and post-launch optimization.
• Influencing major portfolio and business decisions by integrating market potential, competitive differentiation, regulatory feasibility, and P&L implications into senior recommendations.
• Leading global life-cycle and portfolio-risk strategy for assigned products, setting direction for re-registration, label extensions, and active-ingredient defense.
• Serving as a recognized portfolio authority and senior cross-functional leader, leading planning teams and representing assigned products in senior governance.
• Acting as a role model, coach, and capability builder across the organization, mentoring Portfolio Development Managers and cross-functional colleagues.

If you...

• Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Chemistry, Biology, Business, Marketing, or a related discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Have a minimum of 15 years of experience in crop protection, strategic marketing, product management, product development, or a related agricultural business function.
• Have specific experience in soy, corn, and cotton crop geographies, preferred.
• Have demonstrated leadership of large-scale, multi-region portfolio, development, launch, or life-cycle initiatives.
• Have demonstrated ability to influence broad organizational decisions and secure senior cross-functional alignment without direct authority.
