Job summary

American Woodmark Corp. seeks an experienced Plant Manager to lead and optimize production operations.

You will direct organizational development, coordinate interdepartmental communication, and drive TPM and Six-Sigma initiatives to achieve SQDC goals and customer satisfaction. The role requires 8+ years in manufacturing and supervision, with a strong background in wood manufacturing processes, Lean methods, and team leadership in a union-free environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of manufacturing experience; wood working related preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of supervision experience; multiple departments
• Experience in wood drying, machining, cabinet component manufacturing, material flows and inventory management; continuous improvement practices; and process analysis.
• Lean manufacturing experience required; Six Sigma a plus.

Responsibilities

• Actively lead organizational development efforts for the production area and support OD throughout the location.
• Coordinate communication between departments and shifts and foster healthy client/provider relationships.
• Improve equipment uptime, capability and reliability through TPM initiatives and the AWC SEE program and Six-Sigma methodologies.
• Continuously evaluate plant processes and drive continuous improvement and cost reduction.
• Plan and coordinate department activities to meet SQDC targets and customer expectations.
• Lead Kaizen events and participate on teams/projects.
• Develop SOPs related to material, equipment and processes in plant finishing operations.
• Supervise hourly and salaried employees; recruit, hire and train staff.
