Silgan Containers Mfg Corp in Saint Joseph, MO, seeks a skilled machine operator to run coil processing lines on 12-hour shifts. You will operate coil handling equipment, perform minor maintenance, monitor throughput, and ensure quality standards are met while keeping a clean, safe work area.

The role requires familiarity with SPC concepts and the ability to document processes, report anomalies to supervision, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Formación

• Operate coil handling equipment including Lubricators, Cuppers, Ironers, Trimmers and Schneider; perform minor maintenance and monitor filters, lube and coolant levels.
• Set up coils on Upender, Coil Car and Uncoiler as needed.
• Competent in basic SPC, Gainseeker, Protraq and interpretation of SPC charts.
• Perform quality checks and adjust machines as required.
• Complete all documentation required.
• Document any out of gate/spec conditions and react accordingly; notify Supervisor of out of spec conditions.
• Clear jams in cuppers, ironers, trimmers, elevators, trackwork and scrap handling equipment to maintain production flow.
• Keep workspace free of trim scrap, oil, water and debris; follow Cleaning List and initial tasks completed.
• Be active in OpEx initiatives and audits.
• Assist Mechanics in repairs or maintenance.
• Report recurring equipment malfunctions, poor materials or production problems to Supervisor/Mechanic.
• Feed cans back into line from recyclable areas.
• Handle hazardous material and waste properly.
• Monitor Schneider filter paper and change as required.
• Perform secondary jobs as instructed by Supervisor.
• Attend required safety, environmental and general informational trainings.
• Follow all plant safety rules.

• Set up coils on Upender, Coil Car and Uncoiler as needed.
• Competent in basic SPC, Gainseeker, Protraq and interpretation of SPC charts.
• Perform quality checks as required and adjust machines as needed.
• Complete all documentation required.
• Document any out of gate /spec conditions and react according. Notify Supervisor of any out of spec condition.
• Clear jams in cuppers, ironers, trimmers, elevators, trackwork, and scrap handling equipment, to maintain production flow and reduce downtime.
• Keep equipment and work area free of trim scrap, oil, water, and all debris. Review work areas “Cleaning List” and perform tasks listed. Initial “Cleaning List” once each task is completed.
• Be active in all OpEx initiatives, performing all assigned tasks and audits.
• Assist Mechanics in making repairs or performing maintenance work.
• Report to Supervisor and Mechanic any incidence of recurring equipment malfunction, poor quality materials or production problems.
• Feed cans back into the line from areas designated as recyclable.
• Handle hazardous material and waste properly.
• Monitor Schneider filter paper and make changes as required.
• Perform secondary jobs as instructed by the Supervisor.
