Job summary

AVIRE in Sussex, Wisconsin is seeking a Production Engineer to design, validate, and optimize manufacturing processes and tooling. The role involves supporting NPI, sustaining engineering, and continuous improvement to deliver quality products on time and at optimized cost.

You will partner with engineering, quality, supply chain, and production; lead process controls, PFMEAs, labor standards, and test strategies from prototype to production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering with 5–9 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering; or 3–7 years with a Master’s degree; or 8+ years of direct relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of quality system regulations and standards (e.g. ISO 9001, UL, EN 81-28).
  • Ability to develop tooling architectures, processes, controls, and validate performance.
  • Experience with statistical methodologies for analysis and problem-solving.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to assess mechanical/electrical design against manufacturing and service constraints.
  • Knowledge of Lean, JIT, and Six Sigma principles; Lean/Six Sigma certification desired.
  • Familiarity with programming or software to support automated testing and data collection is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication; strong interpersonal skills with manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, and suppliers.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments with initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Lead New Product Introduction input, providing engineering support, tooling, PFMEAs, labor standards, and test strategies from prototype through production release.
  • Own design, governance and control of manufacturing processes, work instructions, and production programming; act as authority for process changes.
  • Define plant layout, production flow and capacity plans; coordinate manufacturing resources to meet demand.
  • Maintain and improve production equipment and tooling to maximize OEE and support roadmap.
  • Support lifecycle with root cause analysis, bottleneck resolution and supplier engagement on quality.
  • Drive lean and workflow optimization with CI teams to improve quality, cost, delivery and productivity.
  • Train production personnel on new processes, procedures and equipment.
  • Authorize stopping production when safety, quality or regulatory standards are not met; on-site attendance essential.
