Job summary

Baltimore Fabrication, an Affiliate of SteelFab Inc., invites applications for a Production Engineer Intern to support production and project management on high-impact projects.

You will participate in drawing analysis, material and labor take-offs, scheduling, and fabrication coordination, while gaining field experience with the shop and subcontractors.

Qualifications

  • Major in Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields.
  • Required: Microsoft Office experience and basic computer skills.
  • Preferred: Some construction/engineering industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the project management team to gather information for fabrication.
  • Review drawings to ensure alignment with specifications and processes.
  • Use company software to perform material and labor take-offs.
  • Assist in schedule coordination and development with plant/project managers.
  • Coordinate fabrication drawings and shop reports.
  • Work with onsite subcontractors to identify and resolve field issues.
  • Gain hands-on experience with fabrication flow and production processes.

This role offers an unparalleled opportunity to collaborate with our Production and Project Management teams on a variety of high-impact projects. You’ll be at the forefront of the industry, honing your skills and gaining invaluable experience through hands‑on involvement in essential tasks, including:

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaboration: Engage with the project manager department to gather project information for upcoming fabrication.
  • Drawing Analysis: Review and analyze drawings to ensure alignment with project specifications and internal processes.
  • Material and Labor Take-Offs: Utilize company software to perform detailed material and labor take-offs.
  • Scheduling: Assist in schedule coordination and development with plant managers and project managers.
  • Fabrication Coordination: Assist in coordinating fabrication drawings and reports as well as work performed in the shop.
  • Field Issue Resolution: Work with onsite subcontractors to identify and resolve field issues.
  • Fabrication Shop Experience: Gain hands‑on experience with the fabrication flow and production processes, deepening your understanding of the entire construction lifecycle.

Qualifications and Requirements

Major:Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields.
