Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. is seeking a hands-on Production Engineer to drive operational excellence in our manufacturing environments across multiple locations.

You will partner with engineering, quality, maintenance, and operations to improve safety, quality, productivity, and throughput while delivering power and energy solutions. In this role you will lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen, develop standard work, and analyze KPIs to implement effective changes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline required.
  • 1+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing/production.
  • Experience with process improvement and manufacturing optimization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen or similar CI methodologies.
  • Experience with production metrics and root-cause investigations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily manufacturing operations for safe, efficient, high-quality production.
  • Analyze processes and identify opportunities to improve productivity, cost, quality, and throughput.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing issues.
  • Develop and implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, standard work instructions, and process specifications.
  • Partner with Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations teams to improve overall plant performance.
  • Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and production transfers.
  • Investigate equipment performance and recommend upgrades or process enhancements.
  • Monitor production KPIs and develop action plans to achieve operational targets.
  • Drive a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

How You'll Make an Impact

Your Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Design engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 1+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
  • Experience with process improvement, troubleshooting, and manufacturing optimization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with production metrics, process capability analysis, and root cause investigation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in electrical equipment, transformer manufacturing, power systems, energy, industrial automation, or heavy manufacturing.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of automation, robotics, PLCs, or industrial controls.
  • Experience leading cross-functional improvement projects.
