United Valve in Houston, Texas is seeking a mechanical engineer to join our team. The role supports testing, design, project management and production improvements in a valve-focused environment.

Candidates should have 3–5 years of valve design or pressure vessel experience, CAD proficiency, and strong communication skills. A degree in mechanical engineering is required and Inventor experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineering and production testing, including hydro/pressure testing and NDT.
  • Provide engineering support through design, reverse engineering, failure analysis, and technical documentation.
  • Help plan major turnaround projects and smaller projects requiring oversight.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering and purchasing to complete projects on time and underbudget.
  • Assist customers and UV employees with tools and understanding of work.
  • Rework and implement new production procedures to meet API, MSS and ISO standards.
  • Ensure safety standards are current and compliant.

Job description

Salary Range: $78,000.00 To $98,000.00 Annually

United Valve, a leading provider of valve repair, modification and testing services, is seeking a mechanical engineer to join our team in Houston, Texas. Successful candidates will use prior engineering skills relevant to the valve industry to assist both the Engineering and Production Departments with testing, design, project management and overall improvements in safety and production efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist both engineering testing and production testing departments in areas including, but not limited to, hydro/pressure testing, engineering services (fugitive emissions, fire, cryogenic, RP 591) and NDT
  • Provide engineering expertise and support through designing, reverse engineering, failure analysis, technical document writing, sales quotations, production scheduling and overall engineering related shop improvements
  • Help plan, implement and document major turnaround projects
  • Help plan, implement and document smaller projects requiring special attention and oversight from higher levels of management
  • Work with production, engineering and purchasing to efficiently complete projects on time and underbudget while providing quality products
  • Assist both customers and UV employees with the tools necessary to complete jobs and understand the work being performed
  • Rework and implement new production procedures to ensure compliance with the latest valve standards defined in API, MSS and ISO documents
  • Actively participate in insuring standards are up to date and all safety factors are compliant.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, industrial engineering or other engineering related degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in valve design and/or pressure vessels
  • Proficiency in CAD
  • Experience in Inventor a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude

Physical Demands and Qualifications:
