Job summary

Fontaine Modification Company in Denton, TX is seeking a Production Engineer to support the production team with design and development of processes and components, including final vehicle CG and driveline calculations. You will create assembly work instructions, BOMs, drawings, and calculations, and collaborate with internal teams to meet time and budget requirements.

This role requires a BS in engineering, 4+ years in product design and manufacturing support, CAD experience

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Mechatronics / equivalent).
• Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience in product design, process development, and manufacturing support.
• Experience in commercial truck engineering field preferred.
• Project management experience coordinating internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics.
• Experience building wiring harnesses/cables and soldering.
• Experience in 3D CAD design (Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or CATIA).
• Experience with CAN protocols SAE J1939 and ISO 11783 is a plus.
• Experience diagnostics of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in automotive/heavy truck/off-highway equipment a plus.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to travel up to 20%.

• Support FMC sales staff quotations by providing estimates for design time, labor resources, tooling, and material costs to complete projects.

Production Engineer

We are seeking a Production Engineer who will be responsible for supporting the production team in the design and development of processes and components, including final vehicle CG and driveline calculations. Products range from simple chassis bolt-on items to PTO & hydraulic kits to cab & chassis modifications. Projects must meet time and budget requirements in order to fulfill the requirements of internal and external customers. Each project requires accurate assembly work instructions along with bills of materials, engineering drawings, and calculations as applicable.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide production support as necessary, including troubleshooting electrical/diagnostic systems of trucks.
• Consistently focus on process improvements to increase the safety and efficiency of production.
• Utilize proper engineering fundamentals of design and follow standard engineering procedures.
• Create new designs that meet customer needs and adhere to relevant governmental codes and regulations, including FMVSS/CMVSS.
• Evaluate designs and make recommendations based on safety, function, appearance, and budget.
• Support FMC sales staff quotations by providing estimates for design time, labor resources, tooling, and material costs to complete projects.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Mechatronics / equivalent).
• Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience in product design, process development, and manufacturing support. Experience in or related to the commercial truck engineering field is preferred.
• Project management experience including coordination between internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
• Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics.
• Experience building wiring harnesses/cables and soldering.
• Experience in 3D CAD design-preferably Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
• Experience with CAN communication protocols (SAE J1939 and ISO 11783) a plus.
• Experience related to diagnostics of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in automotive, heavy truck, or off-highway equipment a plus.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated flexibility in executing diverse tasks, adapting to shifting priorities, and accepting new challenges and responsibilities.
• Ability to travel up to 20% as required.
