Job summary

TruckVault is seeking a Product Designer/Drafter to join the Engineering and Design Department. The role focuses on designing, drafting, and pricing custom TruckVault units, with frequent collaboration between engineering and sales.

The candidate will prepare 2D AutoCAD drawings and 3D SolidWorks models, and maintain accurate costing sheets. The position requires communication with shop floor, sales, and provides training.

Qualifications

• Proficient in AutoCAD 2D.
• Experience in wood products manufacturing.
• Hands on skills with sheet metal / wood / cabinetry.

Responsibilities

• Daily: Create AutoCAD & Solidworks drawings for TruckVault products.
• Daily: Create custom AutoCAD & Solidworks drawings for designs.
• Fill out Excel, Word, and PDF forms to log measurements.
• Create BOMs (Bills of Materials) in SYSPRO for costing.
• Research new vehicle models and design implications.

TRUCKVAULT Solidworks Designer / DRAFTER

Position: Product Design Drafter

Reports to: Engineering Supervisor

TruckVault, the growing industry leader for in-vehicle secure storage, seeks a Product Designer / Drafter for our Engineering and Design Department to help develop a steady stream of new products and improvements. This position has good potential for career growth in all areas. Necessary training will be provided as it relates to the projects/tasks. This position will be responsible for creating custom drawings, pricing, and quote documentation for sales representatives. This position will require constant communication between engineering and sales, with a non-stop flurry of interruptions.

General Purpose

This position is responsible for the following:

• Designing, drafting, and pricing custom TruckVault units.
• Communicate with the shop floor on design issues, design changes, and process changes

Duties & Responsibilities

• The position will be using 80% 2D Autocad & 20% Solidworks.
• Communicate via email and phone with sales
• Design TruckVault models using metal and wood components
• Daily: Create AutoCAD & Solidworks drawings, showing details and design of TruckVault products
• Daily: Create Custom Autocad & Solidworks drawings for custom designs
• Daily: Fill out excel, word, and PDF forms as required to log measuring notes
• Create BOM’s (Bills of material in MPR program SYSPRO) For accurate costing
• Research new Vehicles

Job Qualifications (Knowledge, skills, and abilities)

• Proficient in AutoCAD 2D
• Maintain a positive attitude, even under pressure
• Proficient in Microsoft applications including Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel
• Work well in a fast-paced team environment
• Previous experience in wood products manufacturing
• Hands on skills with sheet metal / wood / cabinetry
• Experience with CNC machinery or programming
