Job summary

Boomtown Design seeks an experienced drafter to handle drafting and production design for commercial and residential clients in a fast-paced environment. This role requires exceptional attention to detail and strong communication with internal teams.

You will create design concepts, shop drawings, and 3D models using AutoCAD, interpret plans, and coordinate with Project Manager and Engineer to verify measurements and manufacturability. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 3 years of professional experience with AutoCAD.
• Portfolio of work and professional references required.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings from architects and engineers.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace (GMail, Sheets, Docs) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create design concepts, detailed shop drawings, comprehensive production drawings, cut sheets, and 3D models using AutoCAD for clients, vendors, and production teams.
• Interpret project requirements and design details from architectural plans, structural plans, interior drawings and RFIs.
• Collaborate with Project Manager to align design intent with project objectives.
• Coordinate with Project Engineer to verify field conditions and measurements.
• Communicate fabrication and design details clearly throughout production.
• Develop material take-off lists in Google Sheets and assist with material procurement.
• Recommend products based on company standards while balancing client needs.
• Ensure manufacturability and develop accurate project schedules with Project Engineer/Manager.
• Brief leads on project scope, production methods, and design details with Project Engineer/Manager.
• Perform quality checks on work in progress and completed work before delivery.
• Support estimator and division leads as needed.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Boomtown Design is seeking an experienced drafter to handle drafting and production design work for its commercial and residential clients. This role requires an exceptionally detail-oriented individual who is highly organized, flexible to change and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This individual is an effective communicator who will work with various internal departments to accurately engineer and design a variety of projects. Some travel may be required to meet with clients and take final measurements.

Responsibilities

• Create design concepts, detailed shop drawings, comprehensive production drawings, cut sheets, and 3D models using AutoCAD (AutoCAD 3D when applicable) for clients, vendors, and production/installation teams.
• Interpret project requirements and design details from architectural plans, structural plans, interior design drawings, finish schedules, RFIs and client meetings.
• Work closely with the Project Manager to align design intent with project objectives.
• Coordinate with the Project Engineer to verify field conditions and measurements.
• Clearly communicate fabrication and design details both visually and verbally throughout the production design process.
• Develop material take-off lists in GoogleSheets and collaborate with the Project Engineer and/or Project Manager for material procurement.
• Recommend products based on company standards, while balancing client needs.
• Consult with the Project Engineer and/or Project Manager to ensure manufacturability and develop accurate project schedules.
• Support the Project Engineer in briefing leads on project scope, production/installation methods, and design details.
• Conduct quality checks on work-in-progress and completed work prior to assembly, finishing, delivery, or installation.
• Provide assistance to the estimator and division leads as needed.
• Perform other assigned tasks as necessary.

Qualifications

• 3 years of proven professional experience utilizing AutoCAD. A portfolio of work and professional references are required.
• Knowledge of industry standards and construction methods, fabrication and installation techniques.
• Proficiency with GoogleWorkspace (GMail, GoogleSheets, GoogleDocs, GoogleDrive, etc) is preferred.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings from architects, structural engineers and interior designers.
• Ability to accurately perform base math functions and understand geometry and trigonometry.
• Exceptional attention to detail and follow through on all projects, tasks and assignments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently within a team environment.
