Job summary

The University of New Mexico is seeking a Senior Audio-Visual Tech to set up and operate broadcast equipment for live and recorded events at the Albuquerque campus. You will supervise staff, help train others, and oversee parts of the event production workflow.

You will troubleshoot, maintain equipment, manage inventory, and assist with scheduling. The role is on-call, non-exempt, with an hourly pay range of $20.00–$25.00.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of related experience.
  • Completed degrees above minimum may substitute for experience year-for-year.

Audio-Visual Tech,Sr
Position Summary

Under indirect supervision, sets up and operates broadcast equipment for live and recorded events. Assists with training other staff members on broadcast equipment and oversees live productions. Maintains equipment and assists with scheduling staff for events. Will supervise the work of others.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Inspects, troubleshoots, and performs preventive maintenance and a range of repairs to audio and video equipment.
  • Receives requests for audio-visual production needs and assists with moving necessary equipment between venues.
  • Operates video and audio equipment to broadcast live and recorded events.
  • Maintains equipment inventory and assists with scheduling staff for events
  • Consults, collaborates, and debriefs with supervisor regarding live and recorded events.
  • May supervise the work of others.
  • Demonstrates or instructs others on the use of audio and video equipment. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform repairs to audio and video equipment.
  • Ability to use audio/video equipment to record live events.
  • Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Ability to determine the nature of computer hardware and systems software problems, and to communicate technical guidance and information to users.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide training, guidance, and operational support to lower level staff within area of specialty.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
  • Knowledge of inventory management practices.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
  • Ability to communicate with and understand the requirements of professional staff in area of specialty.
  • Eagerness to learn new skills
  • Ability to follow trends and find ways to continuously improve broadcasts

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • 2+ years working in live production environment
  • General knowledge of sports
