Job summary

Jobtailor in Demopolis, Alabama seeks an Operations Supervisor to lead plant safety, production, and maintenance. You will collaborate with QA and other departments to sustain product quality and environmental compliance while overseeing staffing and scheduling.

The role requires 3–5 years in operations, MSHA certification, and strong communication. Expect shifts including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays, with emphasis on safety and equipment reliability.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent education/experience.
MSHA certification or ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe.
3 to 5 years of experience in operations or a related industrial role.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Cement process experience is a plus.
Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent troubleshooting and decision‑making abilities.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage priorities.
Effective teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to operate heavy equipment and physically perform essential job functions.
Ability to pass a physical exam, including back x-ray, vision test, hearing test, functional capability evaluation, respiratory fit test, and drug/alcohol screen.
Ability to work varying shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Ensure team members have the skills to perform their roles safely and effectively
Participate in safety committees, training programs, and risk assessments
Oversee compliance with environmental regulations across plant operations

Monitor and manage plant equipment and oversee production performance
Ensure equipment startup and shutdown procedures are followed
Assign work schedules and authorize overtime
Ensure adequate staffing
Initiate and follow up on maintenance work orders

Complete daily production reports and track issues
Report unsafe areas or practices
Manage cement shipments and communicate quarry operations to relevant teams
