Job summary

St. Mary’s Food Bank in Arizona seeks a Production Coordinator to oversee volunteer-driven packaging operations and maintain accurate inventory. You will direct volunteers, ensure proper assembly of food boxes, and balance daily stock while maintaining high safety and service standards.

Responsibilities include training staff, reconciling CERES ERP data, and coordinating with the Volunteer Engagement team to plan daily projects. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two years experience working with groups.
  • Intermediate computer skills: Microsoft Office, Excel, and warehouse management system software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred.

  • Execute inventory movements, put aways, and item journals in physical and digital inventory.

  • Provide and supervise a safe environment for volunteers and staff.
  • Oversee the production process, verify tasks are completed correctly.
  • Conduct audits to verify accuracy and quality with menu checks.
  • Identify poor quality product and remove it from inventory; document waste in CERES.
  • Provide data to Production Manager for daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
  • Maintain clean and orderly work area; ensure food safety standards are met.
  • Operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.

The Production Coordinator is responsible for assisting, overseeing, and working directly with our volunteers who are creating various types of food boxes in support of the food bank’s mission. They give directions to volunteers on how to properly assemble and arrange the various food boxes and components.

The position requires attention to detail, computer skills, strong communication skills, assigning tasks to large groups of people and then overseeing the task execution, with an emphasis on customer service to our volunteers. The Production department works as a team to ensure that inventory is balanced daily, par levels are being met to support the needs of the food bank, volunteer projects are set up and ready on time each day, and that the volunteer’s experience is pleasant.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Providing training and direction to staff, volunteers and community service workers.
  • Reconcile inventory in our ERP (CERES) by removing box components and creating new finished boxes in our system.
  • Execute inventory movements, put aways, and item journals both to our physical inventory and the digital inventory in our database.
  • Coordinating with the Volunteer Engagement department to ensure enough projects are setup for volunteer groups.
  • Providing and supervising a controlled and safe environment for volunteers and staff.
  • Overseeing the production process, verifying that assigned tasks are completed correctly.
  • Conducting audits throughout the production process to verify accuracy and quality with menu checks.
  • Identifying poor quality product and removing it from inventory, ensuring waste is documented, disposed of, and captured in our ERP (CERES).
  • Providing data to the Production Manager for the completion of daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.
  • Ensuring work area always remains clean and orderly.
  • Maintaining all applicable food safety, sanitation, and operational standards as established by Health Department, Feeding America and St. Mary’s Food Bank.
  • Operating warehouse equipment (forklifts – stand-up and sit down, electric pallet/rider jacks, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned by the Production Manager.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or completed GED required.
  • Minimum of two years successful experience working with groups preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Excel and warehouse management system software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred.
