Job description

Job Overview

The Production Scheduler is responsible for scheduling, generating, and processing production orders across departments as assigned by the Supervisor, Production Control. This includes monitoring schedules, capacity reports, status reports, and other relevant sources of information.

The Production Scheduler also expedites purchase and manufacturing items to support timely production, assembly, and shipping schedules. Additionally, they support actions to ensure inventory accuracy.

Scope

The production scheduler manages 2,500-5,000 production orders annually for 700-800 items. They control and monitor in-house inventory valued between $3.0 and $6.5 million, supporting 6 to 15 manufacturing cells with up to 45 employees. They execute picking plans for assembling up to 4 models or fulfilling $12.0-$15 million in component sales.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Use system reports to plan and execute picking schedules for outbound advice supporting manufacturing and sales orders.
  • Use shortage and at-risk reports to expedite materials to meet production and shipment dates.
  • Monitor and maintain production and inventory status reports; report issues to supervisors and provide material availability dates.
  • Maintain system parameters related to items, BOMs, and material distribution.
  • Arrange for replacement or repair of defective items based on inspector notices.
  • Provide replacements for missing or incorrectly picked items during assembly or production.
  • Participate in new employee orientation and training.
  • Perform other clerical tasks as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Associate's degree or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience in production or inventory control.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in operating a personal computer.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines during peak times.
