Job summary

CMC is hiring for a concrete pipe production role in Chesapeake, VA. The position supports the full cycle of pipe production—from setup to shipment—and involves operating and maintaining molds, reinforcing materials, and concrete pouring with basic finishing tasks.

Applicants should be able to perform physically demanding work, work well in a team, and commit to safety and quality. High School Diploma or GED is required, with OT and weekend work possible.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform physical work (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, bending, kneeling) for extended periods.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Availability for overtime, including weekends as needed.
• Ability to work well on a team to meet production goals.
• Basic math and reading skills (measurements, simple drawings).
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
• Manufacturing, construction, or concrete experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support production of concrete pipe from setup through shipment.
• Set up and prepare pipe molds (clean, assemble, apply release agents).
• Place reinforcing materials (steel cages, wire) per specifications.
• Assist with concrete pouring using mixers, buckets, or automated equipment.
• Support curing process and strip finished pipe from molds.
• Perform basic finishing (patching, smoothing, sealing joints).
• Operate or assist with vibration/compaction equipment.
• Move and stage materials and finished products for curing or shipment.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
