Job summary

American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) is developing and commercializing domestic, sustainable battery materials through recycling and extraction technologies for use in EVs and grid storage. The Production Controls Engineer will operate and maintain PLC/SCADA systems for our lithium-ion battery recycling facility and collaborate with the engineering team to ensure reliable and safe process control.

Qualifications

Background in Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or equivalent instrumentation/controls experience.
2+ years of engineering/design experience focusing on industrial automation.
Experience with Siemens, Allen Bradley, Wago automation hardware.
Experience with various industrial communication protocols (ProfiNet, Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet IP).
Ability to interpret and produce PFDs and P&IDs.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot control system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent downtime.
Support commissioning, startup, and optimization of new equipment and expansions for battery recycling processes.
Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC/SCADA systems.
Develop and maintain plant instrumentation and control systems (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, microprocessor-based).
Interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer docs.
Prepare and maintain controls documentation (instrument lists, valve lists, loop sheets, wiring diagrams).
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and external partners to improve system performance.
Provide after-hours on-call support; work a 4x10 schedule.
