Job summary

Afinitas, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is seeking a shop technician to support fabrication operations in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

You will condition material surfaces, apply protective coverings, and assist with loading, unloading, and packaging for shipments. Qualifications include 0–2 years in a fabrication shop, ability to operate power tools and material handling equipment, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years’ experience in a fabrication shop environment.
• Ability to operate power tools safely.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment.
• Strong verbal and written interpersonal/communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Condition material surfaces by abrasive blasting, grinding, sanding, polishing and cleaning operations.
• Apply/remove protective coverings and masking from stainless steel sheet, threads and other features used to mitigate damage during process operations or used for preservation of surface conditions.
• Assist with loading and removal of materials and subassemblies from process operation staging areas.
• Package materials, subassemblies and assemblies for local and/or long-distance shipment by palletization, banding, wrapping or other methods.
• Load and unload local and long-distance carriers.
• Clean, organize and maintain shop and office spaces.
• Assist with facility maintenance and janitorial activities.
