Job summary

Owens Corning Rockford IL is seeking a Machine Operator to safely manage and run the downline production of extruded polystyrene foam board insulation in a fast-paced environment. You will monitor line performance, operate HMI/PLC interfaces, and ensure quality inspections.

This role requires good mechanical aptitude, ability to read scales and tape measures, and the discipline to follow safety policies while lifting up to 55 lbs. Overtime and weekend work as needed; shift options available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–5 years manufacturing experience preferred.
• Able to read a scale and tape measure.

Responsibilities

• Tend production lines and interact with equipment using HMI/PLC interfaces.
• Safely operate a forklift.
• Perform board quality inspections.
• Measure objects with tape measure, six-inch scale, and digital caliper.
• Enter information into databases.
• Operate unit wrapper and related tasks.
• Operate printer equipment and barcode machine.
• Follow Owens Corning safety policies and 5S standards.

Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour

Shift Schedule: 7:40 AM - 8:00 PM or 7:40 PM - 8:00 AM

Shift Differential: $1.25 per hour

Overtime: As required

Weekend Work: As needed

Purpose of the Job

Owens Corning is looking for Machine Operators with manufacturing background in a fast-paced production environment. We are seeking ambitious, self-driven candidates with leadership experience or that are motivated to develop into a leadership role and grow with the company.

The primary objective of this position is to understand, manage, and safely operate all aspects of the downline process.

Job Responsibilities

• Tend production lines and interact with equipment using HMI/PLC interfaces
• Safely operate a forklift
• Accurately perform board quality inspections
• Accurately measure objects using a standard tape measure, six-inch scale, and digital caliper
• Accurately enter information into multiple databases
• Operate unit wrapper and perform all associated tasks
• Operate printer equipment and bar code machine
• Learn and comply with all Owens Corning safety policies along with all other plant rules
• Maintain a clean, orderly work area that is in compliance with 5S standards
• Ability to routinely lift up to 55 lbs. without assistance
• Work up to 12 hours in hot/cold manufacturing environment
• Walk/stand on concrete floor continuously for up to 12 hours
• Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) - steel-toed shoes, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) hearing protection and long-sleeved shirt (with shirt tail tucked in) as necessary for task
• Maintain high level of attendance
• All other duties as assigned or needed

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Preferred Experience

• 1 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting

• Good mechanical aptitude
• Ability to do basic mathematical calculations
• Must be able to read a scale and tape measure
• Ability to accomplish tasks without direct supervision
